All his life, Hoseok dreaded the thought of love. He's seen it all around him. He watched it on tv shows and movies. He's read about it in books. He's even seen it in real life. But he's also seen then ugly side of it. Heartbreak, jealousy, fights, violence, break ups.
He's never experienced love like others, because of a stupid curse that prevented them from seeing their own soulmate. Because of petty Irene who was not having it with his ancestor Wheein. He never understood love, no matter how many times he read a sentence in a book explaining what love feels like. Or how two perfect couples treated each other on television.
Hoseok honestly thought that he'd die alone in a big house with big cars and big rings, and that the only love he needed were his friends and future pets.
But then he met Min Yoongi He remembers when they first met. When Yoongi was just a customer to him who needed flowers for his brother's graduation party.
"Hi, what can I help you with today?" he asked the stranger as soon as they entered the store and approached him. A boy around his age with mint hair, and pale skin. He was like any other customer, but he seemed different in Hoseok's eyes. He just didn't know where to put it, so he ignored that feeling.
"Oh, just looking for a flower for my little brother," he replies.
"What's the occasion?"
"His graduation is soon."
"Graduation, Huh?" Hoseok pursed his lips together, his eyes glancing over to the flowers. "I'd go with these roses, daisies, and tulips. The colorful colors are pretty."
The stranger watched as Hoseok gathered the flowers, arranging them into a pretty bouquet. "Yeah."
"Tell your brother I say congratulations," Hoseok winked as he gave him the flowers.
"Thank you."
After that day, he thought he'd never see Yoongi again. Not like he didn't mind, it wasn't like they shared a moment o anything. But fate brough them back together at that graduation ceremony he attended to see his friend. The same graduation as Jungkook.
It would make sense, since they were soulmates.
Too bad Hoseok didn't realize it back then, or else they could've just skipped the part with Yoongi being in a abusive relationship with Jay, and Hoseok breaking his heart.
Real life is harsh.
"He has a boyfriend now?" Hoseok asks Jin.
"Good for him," he deadpans, acting as if it weren't a big deal. When in actuality, it was. Hoseok liked Yoongi back. But he denied it, he denies everything he feels for Yoongi. Because he didn't want to hurt like his mother. He's seen her at her worst moments, the lowest of lows.
He was scared to go that low too, so he pushed Yoongi and his feelings away. He wonders what it would be like if he hadn't met Irene. Would she still have lifted the curse? Or would things still be the same? He was glad to have met Irene that day at the park, and he valued the friendship the two had.
She'd be really annoying sometimes, always bothering Hoseok about his love life until he finally gave in and told her about Yoongi. A lot of the times she acts as if she didn't care, but she does. Because of the friendship they built, she would do anything for Hoseok. She'd even sacrifice her life, if it were possible.
When Irene told him that she was the one who planted the curse in their family, he didn't know what to feel. He was angry, but she was also his best friend. Best friends can get into fights with each other, but this was different. He really was ready to pounce at her when she said he had to sacrifice something dear to him.
