Theme: Witnessing the death of an animal

Propounded by: Angelica Kim

Dissection

Eyes are dilated, signalling its final moments,
Ceasing life displayed at my sight.
Life, a merciless endless plight.
When life finishes its toll, death resides as a regent.

As a master of death, I reaped and toyed with the frog's life.
Like a sorcerer I poke its back with a needle,
Ignoring its pleading eyes that meddle.
Swiftly as a thieving shadow; dissection ended the frog's strife.

Then from the recesses of my slumbering mind
I realize how shallow life can be
Like how a suicidal man can see
The meaning of life, always rough but never kind.
