Sam played with his shirt that was submerged in water, he was really nervous to meet these random mermaids. One was crazy enough, now he'd be meeting more. Colby didn't inform him on how many friends he'd have meet him, he remember he told him about a few but didn't know if it was those friends.

Sam saw Colby come up from under the water, afterwards four more came up behind him. A girl with almost a teal blue hair, a boy with brown long locks, another with brunette hair and blonde highlights, and another girl with shoulder length brunette hair.

He felt himself shaking, he was never good at meeting people let alone.. fish? His heart raced in his chest as they got closer, with a smile Colby swam up next to him. "Sam, these are my friends. This is Brennen, Katrina, Devyn, and Corey.. the ones I told you about."

He pointed to everyone as he spoke, in return they mumbled a greeting or waved. "H-Hello.." Sam mumbled, their different colored fins were a distraction to the human. To the friends of Colby, this human was absolutely strange, they wouldn't stop glancing down towards his legs and feet.

"Woah.." Katrina said, getting closer to Sam with caution.

He didn't move, he allowed the different creatures to approach him and look suspiciously. All four of Colby's friends now circled Sam, looking at him and observing. "Guys, give him room. Holy crap." Colby chuckled.

"Wait! Are those legs!?" Corey asked, his childish excitement was getting the best of him. Sam and Colby both chuckled at the curiosity, Corey looked at Sam's legs like they were gold. "Wow."

Sam lifted his leg up, laying back and wading as he did. "Colby flipped me under water when we met to look at my legs, it was funny." They all laughed at the sentence, Colby was beaming with joy that they were all getting along.

"What's land like?"

"Do you have school?"

"What kind of food do you eat?"

"What does ice cream taste like?"

"Guys! One question at a time." Colby said, laughing at his friends.

"Lands.. okay I guess. I like the ocean way more, it's.. my happy place. Uhm, I'm home schooled but normal kids go to school. There are a lot of foods to choose from, pizza, ice cream, spaghetti, lasagna, and millions more. And uh, ice cream is good. Cold though.." Sam said, answering the few questions that were thrown at him.

Colby swam closer to shore, his friends all looked at him with wonder but didn't verbally question him. "What's the beach like..?" Colby asked, making it just audible for them to hear.

"Warm, the sand burns my toes sometimes.. It's fun on a hot day, swimming or tanning. I-I sunburn though, too pale." Sam said, chuckling a little.

"Colby..?" Devyn called out, swimming up to place a hand on his shoulder. "Have you told him yet?" She said this quietly, so only Colby could hear.

"I-I just met him, he won't.. he'd turn me down, Dev." Colby spoke sadly, Devyn wanted to hug him but the suspicion from others would make it so they had to explain why he was sad.

"I-Is everything okay?" Sam asked cautiously. He couldn't see Colby's face, but his posture dropped as if he was sad. This concerned him, he didn't know why but knowing he was upset made him want to do everything for him till he was okay.

"Yeah, all good." Colby said, turning around and plastering his face with a faux smile.

The blonde knew the fake smile was on his friends face, he was too shy and nervous to call it out. Had they been alone, he'd have talked to Colby about it. He just smiled back, looking down as he was disappointed in himself.

He kept trying to convince himself to question Colby, whether his friends were around or not. He just couldn't do it, but he wouldn't stop himself but trying more.

As they hung out for another hour, Colby's friends became fond of Sam. They all enjoyed his company and confirmed he was all Colby explained him to be. He was very kind and heart warming, even though Corey was the one to be skeptical at first, he now was comfortable with the human.

"I-It's late, I have to go before my mom comes looking for me.." Sam said, a smile tugged onto his pink cheeks.

"Same time tomorrow?" Colby asked, his voice full of hope.

"Of course." Sam smiled at him, once Colby smiled back that had a moment where their eyes couldn't pull away from one another. "I-I'll see you tomorrow.."

Sam walked to shore, reaching the beach and waving quickly before darting towards the house and disappearing in the doors. Colby didn't stop looking, a smile wouldn't fade as he thought of the cheerful blonde boy.

"Well, I approve." Corey said, the other three friends mumbled something in agreement. Colby turned to his friends, his cheeks flushed to a pink making his friends pick and tease. "Awh, Colbyyy."

"Shut up." He groaned, looking back towards the house one time before swimming off with his friends.

"You should tell him, I swear he'd do anything for you.." Devyn said, smiling at Colby softly before they all swam towards their own homes.

That night, Colby thought long and hard about telling the blonde haired boy his feelings, his destiny. What didn't make sense to him, was they were forbidden from humans so why would his soulmate be just that?

He thought about it all night, finally getting a few hours asleep after deciding he was going to do it.

He'd tell Sam he's the love of his life.
