Solby- Up From The Deep

Chapter Twelve

Colby swam quickly, his friends caught up with him and on his way to his parents he explained everything that's happened. He also explained that if they accept he may change right away and potentially drown.

He swam quickly to his home, he knew he'd be giving a lot up but he needed Sam more than anything. Once he arrived home, he and his friends piled in and to where his parents resided.

"Mom, Dad I need to talk to you quickly. I'm just going to get to the point, I've fallen in love with Sam. The human I've told you about really is my soulmate, we've spoken and I've decided I want to become human and be with him. I know you're not going to want this, losing Gage was hard on all of us and I know it don't want to lose me. But this is what I need to do, this is something that is supposed to happen. His parents have accepted me, it was so risky exposing myself to them but they accepted Sam and I. So many rules have been broken, and if the city found out I'd be killed. It's better for me to do this regardless, I have the shell and I've gotten the blessing of a human. Now I just need yours." Colby ranted, his friends stayed by his side for support.

"Cole.. we can't lose you, too. I won't be able to bare it." His mother used her motherly voice, sadness filled both the parents as they listened to their sons words.

"Mom, please. He's the only thing I want, come meet him. Please just talk to him, he's waiting for me and if you don't allow the blessing soon I won't be able to. He's the love of my life, I won't be anything without him." Colby choked on his words, it was as if he was crying but the tears weren't visible.

"We'll meet him." His father spoke, and they all got ready for the big moment.

As they all swam to shore, Colby's friends included, and there wasn't one of them that wasn't nervous. Once they made it, they all surfaced to see three humans standing on shore gawking at them.

Sam smiled, though when he saw two strangers he felt nervous. Colby swam closer, his parents did as well but remained cautious. "Sam.. this is my mom and dad."

The blonde smiled, "H-Hello." He tried being courageous and not fearful but he couldn't help it. Beside him, his parents were fascinated as more of the mysterious creatures appeared in front of them. Sam walked out to his boyfriend, taking his hand nervously and smiling to his parents.

"Mom, Dad, this is Sam.. the love of my life." Sam blushed at his words, potentially melting as he and Colby looked each other in the eye lovingly. "I need you to let me change." He gaze shifted to his parents, "Because I'd rather die than not be by his side."

His parents looked at each other, his mother just nodded before his father looked at Colby and took a deep breath. "Okay." He said simply, Colby laughed happily and sped towards his parents and wrapped them in a conjoined hug.

"Thank you! Thank you!" He boasted happily before the hug ended.

His mother just smiled softly, kissing his forehead before grabbing his hand that held the shell. His father joined, they took a deep breath before looking at each other and finally speaking. "We allow-" His mother stopped, her voice cracked with sadness but she continued. "We allow our son to become human, to be with his love and obtain legs." His mother spoke confidently.

The shell glowed once more, but this time so did Colby. His fin had a glow, he closed his eyes and when he opened them he looked down to see long tan legs. He tried kicking and keeping himself up but failed, he went under water to be dragged up by his mom and placed where he could touch.

He slipped the joggers Sam have him over his new legs, smiling and boasting with happiness. Sam smiled and held Colby's hand tightly. His parents hugged him, tears trickled down their face. "We'll... We'll t-take care of him.. I promise.." Sam's mother spoke, she smiled to Colby's mother happily.

"Thank you." Colby's father spoke, they all smiled to each other and said their goodbyes before Colby's parents returned to the deep.

His friends smiled to him, he gave them all hugs and cried happily. "We're coming to see you, don't doubt it." Devyn said, hugging him one last time.

"Take care of yourself, Colby. We love you.." Katrina said, they all back up to go deeper as they said their final goodbyes. Tears fell down Colby's, and even Sam's cheeks.

"I-I will, I love you guys." They all smiled once more before disappearing under the water and towards the deep. Colby turned to Sam and smiled, "I-I did it.."

Sam cried happily, hugging Colby tightly and kissing his cheeks. "You did."

Sam's parents watched happily, they weren't upset about the decision at all. It took a moment before the boys began exiting the water only to have Colby fall to the ground. "I-I don't know how to use legs." He said with a small laugh.

"Oh, shoot." Sam wrapped Colby's arm around his shoulder and held him up to lead him to the beach. They crashed in the sand, it clang to their wet clothes and skin as they did so.

Colby ran the sand through his fingers in awe, he giggled as he admired the sand. "The beach.." Sam just smiled, brushing Colby's blue tipped hair from his eyes and sighing happily.

After a while, Sam walked Colby to the house with a little help from his mother. Once they got there Colby admired every single thing in sight. He asked 'what's that' or 'does this make noise?', 'what's this thing for?' a million times before they led him to Sam's room.

"Uhm, Sam maybe he should shower or something. The sand and er, salt smell should be cleaned off. Same for you, then come down for food I'll start cooking." She left the two alone, sitting on Sam's floor as Colby looked around in awe.

"What's that?" He asked, pointing to Sam's phone.

"Uh, an iPhone. I can call people, and text and a lot of other things." Sam explained.

"Call and text?" Colby was confused he was very unsure of what this meant.

Sam assured him he'd teach him everything, for now they both showered and changed before cuddling on Sam's comfy bed. "What's this called again?"

The blonde giggled before answering, "Cuddling."

Colby just held Sam closer and smiled. "Well, I love it."

Sam thought of the millions of things they'd have to teach Colby. It didn't bother him really, he was overly excited for everything that would be coming along.

They went downstairs for dinner, it took a while due to Sam basically walking for Colby. Colby's mind was absolutely blown at the spaghetti, he thought the shape was really funny and the fork he had to eat with. It took him a while to finish because he'd get distracted by either the food or other things around the house.

Once they were finished they went back to Sam's room and laid down, night fell and the two laid in bed talking about anything that came to mind. The love between the two was something no one could get in between, everyone realized that once they just looked at the couple.

They knew the next few months would be a rollercoaster, but they were buckled in and ready to go.
