Five months later
Sam and Colby sat on the beach, their mermaid friends waded in the water and talked to them as they swam up closer than normal but still were in the water.
Colby was a bit fearful of the ocean, he worried that his fin would come back and his life with Sam would disappear. "Okay, we have to go but we'll come back tomorrow!" Devyn called, they all swam out and waved before diving under the water.
"Let's go!" Sam jumped up, pulling Colby behind him as they ran to the house. Colby can walk perfectly now, he's learnt so much as time passed but doesn't quite know as much yet.
As the walked into the house, Sam's mother was pulling fresh cookies from the oven. "Cookies!" Sam cheered, laughing a little bit.
"Yes, cookies. Jake called boys, he was wondering if you'd like to hang out today. I'd have invited him to hang with you all but didn't want to intrude." His mother spoke sweetly.
"Oh, we'll call him back and figure it all out." Sam said, Colby held the blondes hand and kissed his temple before retreating to the fathers office for his everyday lesson. Sam's father helps teach Colby about land, he's helped him since he became human and it's helped tremendously.
Once he left, the women in the kitchen smiled as she saw her son melt to his boyfriends simple kiss. "I'm happy for you, granted it was strange and crazy the way you found your person but I can see you guys belong together." She ruffled Sam's hair before kissing his forehead and continuing to work with the cookies.
In the office, Colby knocked lightly making Sam's father look up from his work. He took off his glasses and smiled at Colby, "Hey, Colby. Come in, we can get started. I have another topic for you today."
Colby sat down, smiling at Mr. Golbach and excited for the new things he'd learn. "So, whats today's lesson?"
"Social media, I want to open you up to it more considering it's the world these days. We've discussed phones, apps, the use of apps and even had you use some so basically were going to explain social media more." He explained, Colby just nodded and smiled tightly. "So, social media is the internet, we talk about all that right?" Colby nodded, "Okay, so its like an account. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, Twitter, and such is something you personalize and make posts on.." Colby continues to listen, Sam's father even cracked jokes here and there that they both laughed at.
Sam tiptoed to the door of his fathers office, he listened to them talking and smiled. His heart warmed at the large amount of acceptance from his parents and even Colby himself. He always wondered how he ended up with someone so amazing.
The doorbell rang, pulling Sam's attention towards it. He walked to the door and opened it to see Jake standing there with his normal dimple filled smile, "Hey, Jake." Sam said, inviting him in and leading him to the back patio to sit in the chairs.
"So, how's it going with Colby?" Jake asked, looking out at the blue water as he spoke.
"Amazing. He's.. I'm so happy Jake, it's unreal sometimes." The blonde couldn't stop smiling, his cheeks warmed at the thought of his boyfriend. "Dads teaching him about social media today, and the next few days I think."
Arms wrapped around Sam's chair and his chest making him jump, till he realized who it was. "Yeah, the next few days it's social media talk."
Sam moved his feet, allowing Colby to sit on the footrest in front of him. Once Colby sat down, Sam leaned forward and wrapped his arms around Colby's waist. "Done so soon?" Sam asked.
"Yeah, he said a half an hour was good for today, wanna go down to the beach?" Colby explained, Sam and Jake both nodded to his question leading them to walk down the path and to the hot sand. Hand in hand, Sam and Colby both stopped where the water couldn't reach them.
