Chapter 5: The Octo Samurai

Me, Pearl and Marina are at the Pygmy Mansion, teaching me a few things about Inklings and Octolings and a bit of their history. They taught me the Inkling Language along with the Octoling Language. I'm learning it slowly but I used my armor's helmet to completely scan the entire language and translate any words in Inkling or Octoling into English for me.

I was talking to both Pearl and Marina in the living room, I was wearing the armor Apex since I'll be going on another mission today, I just have to wait for Marie to call me. I had the armor on but I didn't have the helmet on, it was on the table.

Y/N: Okay...let me get this straight. Inklings and Octolings evolved intk humanoid cephalopods after the humanity's downfall?

Pearl: Yup!

Y/N: And over what? 100 years ago the Great Turf War happened between Inklings and Octolings?

Marina: Yeah.

Y/N: And it's the most brutal and worst conflict that the Earth has seen?

Pearl: Pretty much.

Then I looked at both of them for a moment and then I let out a hystericall laugh and Marina looked at me confused while Pearl looked at me a bit pissed.

Pearl: Hey! Laughing at a war where we fought for our territory and survival isn't funny!

Y/N: Alright, how long did this take place again?

Marina: 100 years.

Y/N: How many died?

Marina: Well...respawn pads are already a thing back then, so a few only died. I think over a hundred or a thousand casualties on both sides.

Y/N: And there were only a thousand casualties in the entire hundred years of this conflict?

Marina: Yeah? Why?

Then I let out another hysterical laugh and this time it was a bit louder.

Y/N: That is the worst and most brutal conflict Earth has seen?! Hate to break it to you but this may be the longest war but it's a war with the lowest casualty count. I mean a hundred years? It's impossible that there are only a thousand casualties.

Pearl: Oh yeah? What's worse?

Y/N: There are three. World War I, World War II. I'm keeping the third one to myself for now.

Pearl: Go ahead! Enlighten us with your wars!

Y/N: World War I began after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. During the conflict, Germany, Austria-Hungary, Bulgaria and the Ottoman Empire (the Central Powers) fought against Great Britain, France, Russia, Italy, Romania, Japan and the United States (the Allied Powers).

Pearlf And how many died? Hundreds? Thousands

Y/N:..........Millions.......

Pearl and Marina: What?!

Pearl: No, you gotta be lying!

Y/N: I am not.

Marina: Surely this must have taken thousands of years, right? Right?

Y/N: Nope, it was only four years. And this is just the first World War.

Marina: Oh my Cod!

Pearl: H-how many? Exactly?

Y/N: The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I, was around 40 million. There were 20 million deaths and 21 million wounded. The total number of deaths includes 9.7 million military personnel and about 10 million civilians.
