A New Beginning

Chapter 16

Logan

After going to see Amelia, I helped Rory get back in bed and comfortable. I excused myself from the room, leaving Rory with her mom and Luke. When I got to the waiting room I sat down dan pulled out my phone.

"Hello" came my sisters voice. It was weird hearing her voice after so long.

I took a deep breath "hey Honor, its me."

"Logan, I haven't heard from you in a long time. How are you? How's Rory and the baby?"

"That's actually why I called. We are at the hospital right now." I paused and took a slow breath. "Rory had the baby last night. We found out just after the wedding that there was a complication. The Placenta was starting to detach and the doctor put her on bed rest. We had an appointment yesterday and they decided she needed an emergency c-section."

"Oh wow Logan I am so sorry why didn't you call me?"

"I'm sorry everything got crazy. Rory had a severe allergic reaction after the delivery and almost died. I have never been more scared in my life sis. But Rory is okay now and baby is in the NICU."

"I'm assuming you are at the hospital here in Hartford."

"Yes we are."

"I will be there in 20 minutes." She hung up before I could say anything else.

While I waited I gave Finn, Colin and Robert a call to fill them in on everything that had happened since the wedding. They all wanted to come to the hospital to but I told them that I would call them as soon as Amelia was allowed out of the NICU so that there wasn't as many people there.

When Honor arrived she gave me the biggest hug.

"Well do I have a niece or a nephew?" She asked with a little laugh trying to lighten my mood. It worked.

"You have a niece. Her name is Amelia Richie. She is the most precious little thing. Shall we go see Rory and then I can take you to go meet your niece."

When we walked into Rorys room she looked up from her book. Luke and Lorelei must have gone to get coffee because she was alone in the room.

"Honor! What are you doing here?" Rory asked with a smile.

"Logan called and told me everything that has happened since the wedding. I'm so glad you are okay." She gave Rory a huge hug.

"Thanks for coming. It means so much to me that at least one person in your family is here fro us." I smiled at Logan.

"Our parents may not want to be here but I am here no matter what."

Rory
"I am going to take Honor to see Amelia and let you get some rest Ace." Logan said as he kissed me lightly on my forehead. "I love you."

"I love you to." I said giving his hand a slight squeeze.

After Logan and Honor left the room I put my book on the table beside me and decided I would give Lane and Paris a call and let them know the latest. Both ladies were very excited about the new addition and told me to call them as soon as it was a good time to visit.

As I hung up Mom and Luke walked back in.

"Hey kiddo, how you feeling? Mom asked.

"I'm tired." I admitted. "Where did you guys go?"

"We went to get some coffee.." Luke started.

"And the gift shop." Mom interrupted. "I needed candy."

I couldn't help but laugh. "What, nothing for me?" I asked jokingly.

"Twizzler." She pointed the pack at me.

"I'm good." I laughed, waving my hand dismissively.

Can we get you anything Rory?" Luke asked.

"No I'm alright just tired and sore." Then I second thought my previous statement. "Maybe ask the nurse when I can have more pain meds."

"I'm on it. I will be right back." Luke said as we left the room.

"He is super excited to have a granddaughter. When we were out he was calling everyone and telling them." I smiled as she continued. "Everyone says hi and the are sending all their love."

"I cant wait to be able to go home and for everyone to meet Amelia. I know that will be a while but still, I cant wait."

Just then Luke walked back in the room followed my a nurse and Logan.

"Here you are my dear. This will help with the pain and help you sleep." The nurse said kindly as she put some fluid in my IV. "If you need anything else just ring the buzzer."

"Thank you." I replied as she left the room. Then I turned to Logan. "Where's Honor?"

"She went home. She knew you needed to rest and she had to get home to Josh and the kids. She said she would come back in a few days after we have had time to breathe."

"I think I am going to try to sleep now. I feel exhausted. You guys should go home and rest and have a shower. I will be okay over night here. I have the nurses if I need anything."

"I will stay with you. Just in case." My mom piped in.

"Mom you really don't need to do that."

"I know I don't but I want to. Luke and Logan can spell me in the morning."

I knew better than to argue with my mom. We said our goodbyes to the men. After they left Mom settled on the chair by my bed and I got as comfortable as I could in bed and we both drifted off to sleep.
