chapter sixteen — will you leave me?

"will you leave me?"
dahye asked jeno after walking in silence.
"never, only if you promise to also not leave me"
he replied, pulling out his hand for a pinky promise
"i promise"
she replied, interlocking her pinky with his.
"by the way, i'm surprised you didn't punch that kid earlier today"
dahye said.
"yeah, thanks for stopping me, didn't know why i just eh i don't know"
jeno shrugged.
"no problem"
dahye replied.
the two eventually arrived at the school's gate and dahye's dad had already arrived, waiting for her— the same as jeno's driver.

"see you tomorrow, jeno"
she waved and got into her car.
"see you tomorrow, dahye"
jeno also waved and got into her car.

"so, tell me about it, you two dating?"
dahye's dad asked, smirking.
"no, he doesn't like me"
"not yet you mean, i could tell he's head over heels for you"
her dad continued and dahye just laughed, shaking her head.

"mom, i'm home!"
dahye exclaimed running into her house, the smell of freshly baked brownies caught her attention.
"are you baking brownies?"
she walked up to her mom in the kitchen.
"yes, you haven't had your favorite dessert in a long time. it'll he out from the oven in about half an hour"
her mom replied as she nodded and walked up the stairs to her room.
dahye opened her door and ran down the stairs, excited to eat her brownies.
"mom, are the brownies done yet- oww!"
dahye tripped on her foot and tumbled down the stairs, catching the attention of both her parents.

"dahye, does your leg hurt?"
her dad crouched next to her.
"i think i sprained it, my left foot really hurts"
dahye replied and laughed at her clumsiness.
"you're hurt and you still can laugh"
her mom said and lightly hit her shoulder.
"i'll be fine i can walk"
she attempted to stand up, only to fall back down.
"nevermind i can't walk"
"let's get you to the hospital"
dahye got out her house with the help of her parents and they were off to the hospital.
"i haven't ate brownies yet"
she pouted.
"your leg may be broken and your head is full of brownies"
her mom scolded, laughing afterwards.
