Nikki's POV :

The trip to Xandar was almost unbearable. The entire time Tony kept nagging me about who my parents were. I can't tell if he is serious or not anymore.

"Okay so kid," Tony started. Wanda looked to me with a raised brow as I rolled my eyes at Tony in response. "When we get to- Bandar-"

"Xandar." I corrected.

"Right. Anyways, your parents. They're not gonna eat us or anything right?"

"Tony, She's obviously human." Wanda chimed in.

"SHE'S FROM SPACE! We don't know for sure!" Wanda sighed at Tony's comment. "Now c'mon kid, yes or no."

"Drax might," I muttered.

"What's a Drax?" Wanda asked cautiously.

"You'll find out," I said leaning back in my seat winking at her.

"Kid, I don't know what that's supposed to mean but if I get eaten I'm suing," Tony said turning his chair around to face me. I rolled my eyes again and looked to Wanda who looked a little nervous. She glanced at me and smiled, I made sure I smiled back.

After what seemed like hours, we landed on Xandar. We left our "package" on the ship for now so I could find my parents and get help. We all made our way off the ship into the center of town. It was pretty crowded, which was normal. But we all noticed the weird exchanges of glares that we were all getting. I chose to ignore them as I walked ahead of Tony and Wanda.

I stopped by the fountain and stood there for a while. This is where my mom and dad first met. My dad told me it was love at first sight, my mom told me immediately that she tried to kill him at first. Mom's story sounds a lot more accurate.

"Hey, Princess, c'mon what are we waiting for," Tony spoke up knocking me out of my thoughts.

"I'm looking for my parents' ship," I said looking around. Wanda walked up next to me visibly nervous.

"Everyone keeps staring at us," She said in a low tone so only I could hear.

"It's 'cause you're new. Just-" I paused to think about it and how sketchy it actually is around here. "Don't look anyone in the eye." Tony shook his head in disappointment.

I  kept looking around until I saw a weird branch moving towards me.  Once our eyes met I ran to engulf my tree friend in a hug.

"GROOT!"  I Shouted happily!

"I am Groot!" He said hugging me with his branch-like arms.  Before I knew it, a raccoon soon joined his side.

"Hey trashy,". I said as I pulled away from my hug with Groot as I crossed my arms.

"brat,"  Rocket nodded.

"Okay, what is this- garbage day?  Why is there a talking raccoon standing next to a pile of sticks!?"  Tony said sarcastically as him and Wanda made their way over to us.  I rolled my eyes as Rocket growled.

"Where are my parents?"  I asked the two, ignoring Tony's comment.

"Back at the ship, we just got out."  Rocket replied snippily.

"Awesome, can you take us to them?"  I asked happily, excited to see my parents again.  I just wish it was under better circumstances.

"Not until we find out who these two are!  Although, you,"  Rocket pointed to Wanda.  "Look familiar."  He grinned.

"This is Wanda, that's Tony.  Can we go now!?"  I said getting impatient.  Wanda waved cautiously at the creatures while Tony just nodded.

"Fine."  Rocket shouted in anger.  "follow me earth turds."  He waved us over to follow him as he mumbled some profanity under his breath.  Groot grew out his arm so I could reach as he put my arm through his.  I smiled up at the creature reminiscing all the times we've had together and how much I told him growing up.  Even if the only words he was saying back were "I am Groot."  I knew deep down what he meant.

---

Once we made it to the ship, I let my arm fall from Groots.  I felt a funny feeling in my stomach when the reality set in on why we're really here.  I can see how worried Wanda is and it's affecting me too.  I ran ahead of Rocket onto the ship with my backpack almost falling off.

Walking through the doors I walked out of just a couple weeks ago scared me.  I looked around with a worried expression when I heard footsteps follow in behind me.  I started to wander slowly to see if I could spot my parents.

I felt arms engulf me as I looked up to see my dad hugging me as if he was never gonna see me again.

"Hey sweetie,"  He mumbled in my hair, I could tell he was ready to cry.

"Hi dad,"  I backed away and smiled at him.  "Where's Mo-"

"Nikki!"  My mom came running from the other room engulfing me in a hug similar to my dad's.  "You're back!"  She knelt down to my level and asked me in a low tone so only I could hear.  "How was earth?  Was it terrible?"  I could see a grin grow on her face.

"It was amazing mom, and I can't wait to tell you guys all about it,"  I said looking around to spot Tony and Wanda hanging back by the door.  "But, we need your help as soon as possible.  We need to see the Nova Corps."  I said in a serious tone as a tear fell down my cheek just remembering why we're here.

"Y-yeah okay, we can do that."  My dad said sniffing slightly.  "Let's go,  you can explain on the way... and, maybe tell us who they are."  He pointed to my earth friends.

"We got cargo to grab first," Tony interrupted.

"Cargo?"  My mom asked confused.
