Bright and blinding beam of lights shoot down at the horizon, giving colors to everything after the last moments of darkness have left the sky.

The color of blue spreaded, with the leaves swaying at the dancing breezes, carrying on the faint scent of grass that is familiar to the residents.

A peaceful morning.

Cue three knocks on the wooden door, a creak was heard as the door was pushed open, revealing a child with a raised brow.

"I knew I would find you here."

The visitor huffed, pushing their hands inside their pockets and looking around the enormous stacks of books tucked neatly on their shelves. It's still so early in the morning, so no one else is inside except for the two of them.

The one who has been inside the library since the previous night until now, beamed at the sight of their visitor before closing the book in their hands.

"Aria! You're here so early!"

They greeted.

The one called Aria couldn't help but drop their blank face. Giving in to the urge of returning the smile of their companion.

"Sit here! Sit here!!!"

Sensing the excitement in their voice, Aria laughed softly, taking the space beside them with a soft huff.

"So? Did you pull out another all nighter reading books?" Aria asked, observing their young features. They had pulled an all nighter yet they were still this energetic.

"It was really fun to read! I'm learning a lot!"

"Then, that's good to hear. But be sure to take proper rests. You know how Alyn nags."

At the mention of the name, Aria's companion shivered visibly. It was too comical that they couldn't help but release another round of laughter.

"Alyn's too scary!"

"Right. So be sure to do things right."

"Yeah."

After the last word was spoken, both children fell into a calming silence. Staring into nothingness, their minds wandering on their own.

"Aria..."

"Hmm?"

"What do you want to do in the future?"

"Why ask suddenly?"

"Just curious."

Aria stared at their companion's face.

Contrary to the earlier excitement, no emotion was present on their face. The soft lights coming from the window overhead of them rained down on their small figures, casting a shadow beneath them. Aria waited, until they finally met with the pale mint green eyes that was previously staring into nothing.

.

.

.

"Someday, I will climb the tower." Aria answered.

.

.

.

"...."

A few more seconds of silence and Aria could swear that they saw a small murk of darkness lurking on the mint green eyes that were looking at them. But before they could point it out, their companion already shifted their gaze to somewhere else.

"I see."

They said softly, almost like a whisper.

It was very strange.

For all the years they were together, Aria had never seen them make such an expression. It was very different from their usual cheerful and playful personality.

It was like a very different person.

Different from the one they knew.

.

.

.

"I will climb the tower with you, Aria."

.

.

.

The familiar cheerful yet strange smile lingered on Aria's memory.

.

.

.

"That's a promise."
