It was the morning after the party's events and Billy's eye had turned an even darker shade of purple and blue.
Kimberly had been in the midst of bickering with Billy about god-knows-what when sudden chatter emerged from everyone around them.
Kimberly rarely cared for gossip but it was hard to ignore when everyone's head turned at the sound of loud footsteps induced by heavy combat boots.
Curiosity getting the best of her, her eyes went wide in horror as she turned to look at who had caused the uproar.
Instead of her heart pounding in her chest, it was so slow she could've sworn it would completely stop within the next seconds.
"You've got to be shítting me," Kim mumbled under her breath.
Billy, who stood besides her locker turned to where she looked, his eyebrows furrowed. "What's wrong?"
Kimberly couldn't move. She couldn't talk either. She just watched in fear as her terrorizer walked the hallways of Hawkins high.
Billy was confused. He wasn't sure what he was looking at, the only thing he knew for sure was that there was currently a boy with an athletic build that wasn't there yesterday now strutting the hallways cockily.
Billy already didn't like him. His entrance was far too similar to his, which only meant one thing. He was challenging him.
Kimberly took a hold of Billy's denim jacket by the sleeve, "We need to leave." She said, not giving Billy anytime to react before pulling him away from the crowd that had begun to form around the unidentified boy.
Kimberly knew the library was always empty in the mornings, so she figured today would be no different, upon arriving her thoughts proved to be correct.
"Who was that?" Billy inquired with raised brows and a confused frown.
Kim set her supplies down on a table and ran both her hands through her hair, shock still evident in her features. "I have to leave, I-I can't be here —fück!" She exclaimed, still lost in her own world as Billy's question went over her head.
Billy tilted his head, "Will you tell me what's wrong?"
Kim finally looked at him, still looking alarmed, "Keep your voice down." She once again grabbed Billy by the sleeve and dragged him to one of the empty book isles.
"Jesus, you're like a little mouse. You know, the mouse? Speedy Gonzales is it?" Billy commented, lost in his own thoughts.
"What?" Kim asked quietly, suddenly disrupted from her thoughts and her eyebrows knitting, "A mouse?"
Billy shook his head, "Forget it. Why'd you drag me to the back of the library?"
Kim sighed heavily as she settled her eyes on Billy's. "That's him." She chewed on her bottom lip, making Billy's eye train on her lips, "That was Nicolas."
Billy blinks away his trance and his jaw hardens, "What the hell is he doing here? I thought you said he moved away."
Her eyes blink a few times as shrugs, "He had moved to Chicago. I guess the day I saw him was his first night back." Her teeth nibbled on the inside of her check nervously.
Billy shook his head, "We could always ditch." He raised a brow as an eager grin painted on his lips, "We could go get breakfast, I'm starving."
Kim frowned and shook her head slowly, "I can't—"
"You always say that and still end up agreeing." Billy cockily pointed out.
Kim rolled her eyes as her features remained blank. "Can you just—I don't know—steal his thunder?" She pleaded, her eyes wide.
