The rest of the week was awful for Carson. Even if it was Halloween and he didn't have school tomorrow, his mood was still damp.
His dad had noticed and understood, deciding to give his son space and reschedule his therapy appointment. Carson was grateful for that.
Carson's friends have noticed his mood, but Alex told them all to not question it whenever Carson wasn't around. So, they just dropped it. Carson was grateful for that too.
"Happy Halloween!" Alex beams, throwing a handful of candy onto Carson's empty desk, hoping he could cheer the blonde up. Carson glanced at Alex, his lips twitching into a barely noticeable smile. "You ready for tonight!?"
Carson simply nodded, unwrapping a Hershey bar. "Thanks for the candy."
Alex just smiled, rambling to Harley about how gorgeous his tiara was. The blonde was slightly amused and felt his mood lighten from Alex's, and the candy. Harley was half listening, half focusing on texting someone back.
The day went on, Riley was more excited then anyone at lunch, Halloween was his favorite holiday. Carson honestly did look forward to Trick or Treating, then watching scary movies all night while eating candy at Riley's house. He had to beg his dad to allow him to since he thought Carson was lying to get drunk somewhere.
Maybe this will make me feel better.
Everyone agreed to meet at Riley's house at 5:30, then will take his mom's SUV since it had 8 seats and a large trunk. Carson wasn't looking forward to being in a vehicle but since it was a short distance and they would be walking the whole time, he didn't mind.
He looked in the mirror, studying the "costume" he had put together. It was just a striped black and white shirt, black jeans, vans, and a beanie. He was going to wear a ski mask but thought it was completely stupid.
Carson was the last to arrive, mainly cause he stopped on the way there for an energy drink. He had to explain to the clerk that it was a costume because instantly, they threatened to call the cops.
"Okay, so, we're going to..." Riley looked down at his phone, looking at the GPS. He said the town name, before reasoning why. "All the old and rich people are there, so they give out shit loads of candy."
Carson wondered, "how far away is it?" Riley shrugged and showed him the route. "30 minutes?!"
Riley nodded, adjusting his red hat. He was dressed as Mario and somehow convinced Mia to go as Luigi, mainly because Trey didn't want to. "Yeah, it was going to be in a closer neighborhood, but everyone goes there and the candy isn't great."
"But... 30 minutes? An hour all together?"
Riley was confused about why Carson was so panicked about the idea. "Uh yeah... Are you fine sitting in the back seat with Alex? I don't want him to get glitter anywhere else and no one else wants to listen to him for so long."
Carson hesitantly nodded, regretting the idea of even agreeing to come. He wanted to just buy overpriced candy and watch movies at home like he normally would with his-
"Carson! Look at my tiara!" His blue eyes met Alex's, scanning him. He wore heavy makeup and was covered head to toe in pink and glitter. Alex even had a tutu he's borrowing from Savannah. Alex's breath was taken away as he scanned Carson, "damn, you look hot. I'll get on the floor for you and let you put a gun to my head."
Carson couldn't help it, he laughed. He laughed so hard he snorted, which made him laugh even more from embarrassment. Alex was giggling softly, pleased he made the boy laugh.
"Oh!" Alex shook a can, "it's glitter spray! Want some?" Carson shook his head, his laughter dying down. "Just a little?"
"No."
