Chapter 71

The awaited talk of the century

Class ended after a very excruciating day. I just dealt with burning gazes and stares following every single move I take.

I swear I'm gonna lose my mind before this stops.

And it did, thanks to Wei Xiu. I'm not sure what he did but I can already see the outcome. The teachers didn't gave me those disappointed gazes they used to give me which turned my day a little bit better than before.

Thank goodness he's a genius, he can think of plans and execute them flawlessly.

Soon, I told Feng Mian and Wei Xiu, covertly, that they should leave first because I'm going with Aifen but of course, Wei Xiu objects.

"Are you serious?" I look at him deadpan, we were on the back of the school building and was whispering furiously.

"It might be dangerous-"

"Aifen's not dangerous!" I hissed at him vehemently while he continues.

"-to go home alone"

I was silent for a moment before I replied.

"Oh"

He gives me his signature look of 'I told you so look' which irritated me but I brushed it off since I'm going to have another talk with my darling.

"I'll just wait for you, I'll wait at the stationary store" I nodded and jogged away before he could go.

Now, as I was walking, I was thinking about the words I should say to my darling. I know that it'll greatly impact our friendship and she would probably be hurt again but I don't really want to lie.

I can't lie to her.

She'll probably hate me but I will do everything in my power to make sure she'll accept my apology. I need to make this right again before Wei Xiu's feelings got between me and my darling.

I can already see her faint figure among the students, of course she's surrounded by everyone since she's a popular person.

It always amazes me how composed she is whenever she was thrust into the crowd. It pains me to see her effort and her pain for trying to be the best among the students but I still do supports her decision.

She made eye contact with me and before long, the crowd left her not before some students looked at me with their not so fond eyes.

"So...what is it?"

"Um, let's get somewhere shall we?" I couldn't help but smile forcefully.

The silence that pops into our walk was nerve wracking. It was choking me and I could feel my heart about to burst into anxiety.

I stopped and arrived at a nearby park at the school, it was still some 20 minute walk away from school.

She was looking at me and I just had to look at her pure lovely eyes and trust me, it almost broei my heart how much pain I saw from just a glimpse of it.

"So you t-two now..."

"Uh....he...chance...asked-yeah"

I was deadly nervous, my heart was about to burst from my body from the tension in the air. I could feel my hands cladded in sweat as I lowered my head down in shame.

Gosh, how could this be so difficult!

"I see" she said with a resigned voice, I look at her and I was just too appalled at her smile.

She was smiling brightly but I can see her lips trembling. Her eyes curved in happiness but beneath her smile lay the feeling of sorrow.

I couldn't help but cry, I know I'm not the one whose suppose to cry but I couldn't help it. She doesn't want to cry so I'll cry for her.

"Why are you crying?" She asked before laughing at my ugly face.

"Because you won't" I hiccuped and hugged her, my hands hugging her tightly as if I was afraid she's going to leave me.

"I'm fine now, Wei Xiu he....he already explained to me"

"I'm sorry, he...he asked for a...a...a c-chance....I'm sorry Aifen....I'm really sorry"

She sighed at me and enclosed me with an embrace, her palm smoothing out my hair as she responded.

"It's fine...I already asked for...for his affection...but...yeah...it's been three years. I think it's t-time to m...move on" she said and finally broke down into tears.

The two of us hugged there while crying, I was telling her sorry while she was persuading me that it's already fine, that's she's moving on. It went on for like a full ten minutes before my tears ran out.

Then I looked at her with my eyes filled with tears and said.

"Let's... let's go to a ka-karaoke and s-sang our hearts o..out!" I said in between hiccups, she nodded and I held her hand with my two hands.

Her throat was sore, it was in pain due to her screaming her lungs out in the karaoke place. It was near school and the sun has already settled down. She already told her parents that she's going to have an overnight with Liu Ying and they will deliver her some clothes and her uniform tomorrow since it's still Tuesday.

She was grateful, she thinks her parents knew about her getting broken hearted. Although her parents aren't really happy about her having a crush on someone in the past, they have decided to just let it go but with some rules.

She wasn't supposed to have a boyfriend when she's still in highschool, she can have a crush but she should not develop it further without her parents permission and she's allowed to have night overs but only with her girl friends.

"I've already asked Feng Mian, she's on her way so we better get going now" Liu Ying said, her eyes red and puffy from the cry earlier, she vtes her face was marred like that too.

She nods and they went out, the train was like a lullaby to the two of them but she willed herself not to sleep. Meanwhile, Liu Ying was already out.

Liu Ying was a charming person filled with joy and just brightens the day. She's a person who is so warm and caring, loyal and selfless.

Liu Ying loves her.

She loves Liu Ying.

The two of them are like the best of friends, although they haven't had the time to meet at some times, if they did, it'll always be filled with stories from the both of them.

She shook Liu Ying awake when they arrived. They walk to the same path and that's when she stopped.

Right there underneath the lamp post, is a guy so familiar to her it brought waves of emotion in her eyes. It was someone shed long for in the past three years and still is.

But she's not supposed to anymore.

"Wei Xiu" Liu Ying whispered, her hands were busy brushing off something on her eyes that she didn't notice Wei Xiu first.

Wei Xiu's eyes never left Liu Ying's and it never strayed far. It was always her that he sees, always her that he thinks of and someone that he held dear.

In everything that Wei Xiu said after she confessed, there is one statement that stays true up to this time.

"I have always love her, now and today, from the past up to the future"
