summary: ned doesn't know about peter being spider-man, but he finds out when he catches peter talking to karen about an upcoming mission.

ned's pov
"hey peter! you ready for class?" i ask peter. he turns to shut his locker door and nods at me. "that a new watch?" i ask him.

"oh, this thing? oh, um, mister stark actually gave it to me to try out an upcoming model of the... the stark watch... yea," he says but he sounds kind of unsure of himself.

"that sounds so cool! can i try it on?" i put out my hand. he covers the watch with his hand protectively.

"actually, mister stark told me not to take it off because it's monitoring my heart rate and a bunch of stuff like that and uh... he needs that for um... testing purposes?"

"dude you sound like you're making this up on the spot." i laugh and peter flushes.

"n-no i'm not! i just don't remember exactly what he told me because i was busy at the time..." i perk an eyebrow but dismiss whatever suspicion i have because peter does get distracted really easily. we both walk to our classes and sit at our seats. the teacher has us assigned in seats alphabetically, so peter is a few seats in front of me.

i sit down and the class starts. eventually, peter excuses himself to the bathroom and that actually reminded me that i also had to go haha. i wait a couple of minutes so the teacher doesn't think that this was planned (because it isn't), then i go to the bathroom as well.

"-ren? did mister stark confirm where the next mission would be?" i hear peter in the stall next to me. who's he talking to?

"yes, peter. the mission will be in pennsylvania, and the team will be leaving in eight hours. would you like me to inform mister stark that you will be coming to the tower after school?"

PETER HAS A GIRL IN THERE????

"sure, karen. but please ask happy not to come pick me up today. i wanna try out the new web fluid i was making the other day."

oh my god... what did i just hear.........

"peter...?" i squeak. you could cut the tension that was just created with a knife. i hear him clear his throat.

"n-ned? how much of that did you hear?"

"as of you asking where the next mission is. i have so many questions for you!"

let's just say peter couldn't catch a break after that lol.

so i actually have a shit ton of drafts with random ideas that i've either come up with on my own or gotten inspired by other oneshots i've read, so yea if you wanna request something go ahead but no promise that i'll get to it anytime soon haha
