Jonah Marais Roth Frantzich is one of the Zodiac Heroes and one of the 1st year university students. He is the protagonist of the series.

Background

Official Description

Jonah Marais Roth Frantzich is an American 22-year-old student with Psychic-themed powers. He first appeared in Season 21 as a rival and Volume 3 Season 1 as a hero. He was formally a rival and is now a hero.

Appearance

He is shown to have short and wavy brown hair moved to the right(his left), blue-green eyes (his eye colour changes often) and light tanned skin. He wears a black shirt which is tucked in, black jeans with a belt and red and white sneakers. When he activates his powers, his pupils and irises disappear and glow white. His sleepwear consists of a black sweatshirt and blue sweatpants. He stands on 6 ft. 1 and is of average weight. Jonah turns white in his spirit form. When he was 12, he looks the same but his skin colour is a lighter shade and he has brown eyes. This might be a nod on how Jonah Marais' eye colour changes between blue, green and brown. Starting from Season 8, his hair started growing longer and curlier making it similar to a Jewfro.

Personality

He shows immaturity and playfulness like his peers. But gets serious while fighting Chase or helping his friends study or research. Jonah is shown to be a sensitive person. He also deeply cares for his boyfriend, Corbyn. Though he was a rival at first, he still cares for other people, especially his friends. He finds his new friends, the Zodiac heroes, a group of interesting people.

Etymology

Despite the series mainly taking place in Australia and New Zealand and that Jonah is American, Jonah is a Hebrew name, Marais is a French name, Roth is a German and Jewish name and Frantzich is a German name.

Jonah is a masculine given name derived from the Hebrew: יוֹנָה, Yonā, meaning dove or pigeon. It is the name of the Abrahamic prophet Jonah.

Powers and Abilities

Telekinesis- His telekinesis power is first used in Volume 3 Season 1. His powers are closely similar to Michael.

Telepathy- His telepathy power is first used in Volume 3 Season 1. He can transmit or receive thoughts which is most likely the reason why Brad is able to contact him easily.

Power Transmission- He is able to transmit powers to Corbyn.

Healing- Like many of his teammates, he also has healing powers.

Trivia

-Jonah was born on 16 June 1998 which makes his Zodiac sign Gemini however, he has psychological powers almost similar to Brad.

-Jonah is of Finnish and Swedish Jewish(ethnic) descent

-Jonah is the fifth LGBTQ+(gay) character in the series, the first being Troye(gay), the second being Brad(bisexual), the third being Connor(gay) and the fourth being Corbyn(bisexual)

-Jonah is the only known character to have his Chinese name from his actor's stage name
