Background

Official Description

Lavender May Avery is an American 1-year-old girl with powers based on the Greek goddess, Hebe. She first appeared in Volume 3 Season 8 and is one of the middle-section survivors.

Appearance

She is shown to have wavy medium-length brown hair moved to the left (her right), brown eyes and light tanned skin. She wears a blue long-sleeved shirt, blue jean shorts and white shoes. When she activates her powers, her pupils and irises disappear and glow purple. Her sleepwear consists of a purple shirt and white shorts. She stands on average 1-year-old height and weight. Lavender turns purple in her spirit form.

Personality

Like many of her teammates, she displays immaturity but sometimes seriousness. Unlike many known 1-year-olds, she is more advanced in skills like hand-to-hand combat, playing musical instruments, talking in long sentences and more. She also has a caring and friendly side. She is also slightly boyish like many females in the team (not particularly tomboyish). Lavender is also a daddy's girl and she is shown to love her father, Jack.

Etymology

Despite the series mainly taking place in Australia and New Zealand and that Lavender is American, Lavender is a French name, May is a British name and her last name, Avery is an Old English name.

The name Lavender comes from the plant. The evergreen shrub got its name from either Old French lavandre meaning "to wash", or from Latin livere, meaning "blueish".
