He regretted it, going there at the peak of night. The moon hung high like a lantern, engrossing him it's own bathe of lunar rays. He bowed to the ones who escorted him out of a building bare of livelihood
It was an unfamiliar path, windy and unpredictable as he passed the cars that bustled in the night party.
He ignored their looks, because he knew, he looked ridiculous. He's had people look at him like he's a pest, but he didn't mind. His heart still beat for the same person, and that's all that matters.
He walked down the path, rocks finding its way into his shoes as he approached the box, hands over the keypad.
His breath was shaky, out of both anxiety and nervousness. His finger met with the button after much hesitance, and he heard the voice he had heard yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that.
"Listen please just ask her-"
"She agreed"

He picked up the phone, pressing it to his ears as his irises flickered to meet hers. The first thing he had noticed, was the necklace that hung loosely around her neck, still stained by the ruby ribbons of blood like it was engraved into the metal.
He had to tear his eyes away from that to stop himself from breaking. The glass was a barrier, and the officers didn't make the situation any less awkward.
"How have..." He began, but her voice was sharp, and to the point.
"Donghyuck" Her eyes had lost its soul "Let go"
His grip tightened around the phone "I can't"
"Look at yourself Donghyuck. Look at your wings, what are they now? We've ruined each other"
Low and behold, was Haechans wings, precisely, wing. He was lucky to still be able to survive with one, despite losing basically everything: his reputation, his abilities and his authority. All from just one day.
"Haneul" His heart ached at her toughened state "Why? Why would you take my fathers baggage?"
Her eyes flashed purple, her wings that were hidden behind her twitched. Even though she wasn't who she had dreamt to be, but it was the closest she's been yet. A majestic white stood sadly behind her, a contrasting black on the other. It worked together in a ying and yang, yet she was now someone people despised

There was a chuckle across the line "Because i deserved it"
"My father should be the one behind bars, not you"
"He should be, but he disappeared, didn't he?" She dipped her head "I was the one who hurt you"
"Haneul you fucking saved me and-" He slammed his fist on the table, causing even the staff to flinch.
"I didn't turn myself in for fun" She leaned in "I turned myself in because i sinned"
The two breathed, the only noise being the fan of air blown audibly through the crappy phone. If the glass weren't separately the two, he would have taken Haneul by the wrist, and dragged her away off to wonderland.
The reality was so harsh, that someone like Haechan, could barely believe it
They were lucky they were both alive, but on terms that seemed to make them wish they were dead instead.
"Why are you so stupid" He wanted to spill the world out to her, about how he wishes it would go back to how it was before. But neither him nor anyone could change what's happened. A culprit that admits to its charges, is still a culprit.
"Stupidity blinds the intelligent"
"1 minute left"
The reminder seemed to force Haechans eyes up to hers. For a mere second, he saw his own emotions in her eyes, as if her pupils were a mirror. He knew what she was thinking, and he knew that nothing was going to change her mind.
"Congratulations" She smiled "Your father won"
"You don't understand- He didn't! He shouldn't have. We can find a way out of th-"
"Times up"
He looked at her, and he knew it was helpless after all
"Remember" She lifted the phone from her ear
"Only the powerful win"
