So this #worshipsongsunday we're going to look at "Dear God" by Cody Asbury. It's from his new album "To Love a Fool". I encourage you to listen to it it's so good. The raw audio came out a few months ago and I wept on how beautiful it was.
The first part of the song is us talking to God. He's telling God he's striving to make God proud of him and it's too hard and he wants to give up. Then he says he's been trying to get people's approval but that's not working either and it's wearing down his mind. Maybe if he tries harder or tries to keep the rules he'd make God proud.
The second part is God's response. God's not scared of your imperfections, brokenness or your questions. You've always been enough for God. God sees your wrestling and He was always right here listening to you. He's gonna meet your right where you are.
"My Child you can love again"
That final line may have a different meaning for you than for me but I think it's now you can love God. No fear, no worry. No striving .
