You didn't see Reid return to his desk the rest of the day.

You wanted to apologize, explain that you were proud of his accomplishments, and he should be too. Just because he had more accomplishments then you did didn't mean he wasn't allowed to be proud of them.

But he never returned, so you packed up your stuff and headed home, but you couldn't help but think about how you left it with him. You wondered if you had scared him off, if he didn't come back because he was at the same lack of words you were.

It kept you up that night as you rolled from side to side. What was he going to say about his mom? And why wouldn't he tell you? You'd only known him for a day but you could tell you would trust him a lot by the end. You just hoped he would trust you too.

Before you fell asleep, you finally decided the best method to repair it was food. You would stop for a doughnut and coffee the next morning, that way you could get one for him too. Hopefully that could fix it. Who doesn't like food, right? That's the way to your heart, had to be the way to his too.

So the next morning you stopped at your favorite coffee shop. It was one you stopped at a lot when you were in the academy. It had been on the route there, it wasn't on your route now but he was worth the detour and the 30 minutes less of sleep. You wanted to make it up to him.

You ordered two coffees, one you put 5 sugars in and the other 3. You also got two doughnuts, one with chocolate icing, and one with vanilla, both with sprinkles. He had to like one or the other, right? And he could pick off the sprinkles if he was that picky.

When you arrived at work, Reid was already at his desk. You were about 10 minutes early yourself since you overestimated the time to make your detour but no one else was in the bull pen. You set your stuff down on your desk to nothing from Spencer. You picked up the box with the doughnuts and the coffee for him and walked around to his desk.

He raised his eyes from the book below him to you. "Good morning."

"Yes, a good morning it is," you said cheerfully, hoping to make up from the somber mood you left it at the day before. "I brought you a coffee, with 5 sugars that I added myself, so I know it's exactly 5," you set the coffee down.

You saw the smile pulling at his cheeks so you couldn't help but smile more. "and a doughnut. I hope you like them. I got a chocolate and a vanilla. Which ever you don't want, I'll take."

You set the box down awaiting a reaction. "and they both have sprinkles," you whispered to fill the silence you no longer found comfort in. You understood why Spencer had been rocking on his feet the day before.

He was still smiling at you but he didn't say anything. He just kept looking from the box back to you. You started rocking on your feet in nervousness. You couldn't have possibly made it worse with a doughnut right? It was just a piece of bread with icing... right?

His coy smile grew into laughter.

"Oh god, was this really that stupid of an idea? I just felt bad for yesterday, I made it seem like you should feel bad for all you've managed to accomplish but I haven't but you should feel so accomplished like all the things that you've done are so amazing and I wish I could have done them, like 3 PhDs... Oh god. I'm rambling aren't I?"

He just sat there smiling at you, watching your body language as you talked with your hands and shifted your weight from foot to foot and heel to toe. "I think its cute. I do it too when I get nervous," he still couldn't stop watching you.

"I'm not nervous!" you said trying to recover from the very nerve racking situation you've created. You tried to stop all the things you felt yourself doing.

"You're rocking your weight on your feet and your grabbing for anything to hold onto," he said with a smirk as he motioned to your hands as they grabbed at the sides of your skinny jeans.

"I hate working with profilers," you looked away as you realized he was right. You pulled your hands from your sides.

"Like I said, it's cute. I do it too," you finally turned your head back to meet his eyes and smile. "But thank you for the doughnut. I felt bad after yesterday too. I didn't want to scare you off on your first day. And you're not even 30 yet, you've got time."

You just nodded as you felt your nervousness melt away. This man really had a way with words. He could create the most nerve racking conversations but also create the ones that calmed you the most.

"I actually love doughnuts so I will gladly accept one of them. Which one do you want?" he said as he unfolded the tabs on the box.

"I like the chocolate ones but I will take which ever you don't want," you said as you realized you'd stopped rocking. He really had managed to completely calm you.

"Then I will take the vanilla," he reached into the box pulling out the doughnut with the white icing and held it up the box to you to pull out the one with dark icing.

You smiled as you picked it up and took a bite. You walked to sit back down at your desk when you looked back up at Spencer. He pointed to his cheek, "You got a little something right there."

You wiped your hand across your cheek and saw the icing left on your finger. You licked it off.

He smirked and said, "the chocolate ones are the best, huh?"

When it finally hit you, you said, "I told you to take the one you liked best."

"I know," he said taking another bite of his with white icing.

The rest of the day was pretty boring. Reid and you would joke between files, Emily, JJ, and Derek would butt in to your conversations, but other than that, it was just more case reports.

Both days now Reid had finished his case reports before you, which had never been an issue before, but when he started balling up tiny pieces notebook paper and throwing them at you, you were certain he had struck the lowest level of bordem.

You tried to ignore them until one hit your forehead. You could hear Reid on the other side of the desk break, "Yes! Score!"

You looked up with a glare. His smile faded as he met your eyes, "Ooo, shes not happy."

He looked away as he grit his teeth, but couldn't keep his eyes away for long. As he looked back to you, he watched your eyes calm and your lips form a smile. His smile copied yours.

"You know, you could help me with the stack of reports still on my desk rather than goofing off," you said locking eyes with him as your smile faded.

"I was just taking a break." The way he emphasized the last word made you laugh. "But i'll help you," Spencer reached across the break in your desks to grab half of your reports.

"How do you get through these so fast anyways?" you questioned.

"Well the IQ helps, and the eidetic memory, but its probably the reading 20,000 words per minute that really does it in."

"You're just full of secrets aren't you?
