Chapter 45

"Hello Darling"

Her frightful eyes opened themselves to a familiar face. The sudden surge of adrenaline was halted as she caught her breath in some kind of relief but now she was furious. Arjun got his hand of her mouth and stood there chuckling. He was shaved for the occasion although his hair looked a little ruffled.

"It's just me Jaan" He said very sweetly, grinning widely almost pressing his body onto Meera's body which was pushed onto the wall. 

"you idiot! you freaked the shit outta me!" Meera gritted the teeth and hissed. They were currently in the hallway and Meera could see guests passing by them

"it's revenge darling" he winked as he continued smiling at her,"Besides who could attack you when I am around" he said as he caressed her hair

"Arjun! stop, there are guests watching us!!" Meera said getting a little angry 

"Yeah so it's not like I am doing a crime gah!" Arjun rolled his eyes 

"How could you ever do something wrong?" Meera said sarcastically as she smiled fakely. Arjun held her hands and scanned them. 

"There's no Mehendi on your hands" Arjun said holding her hands up, a little perplexed in his expression

"Yeah and I don't intend to get any!" Meera said haughtily in pretense, as she finally got out of his grip and made her way to the banquet hall 

"Wait wait, so you're saying, you're NOT getting my name on your hands?" Arjun asked, just to be clear again, even though he had sensed the pretension 

"Nope" Meera replied cockily as she turned away to hide h, er smile 

"Soch lo Meera kahin kisi aur ke haath mein mera naam na chhap jaye"  he said playfully, arrogance evident in his tone as he put his hands in his pocket and walked towards Meera. 

"Oh please, you wouldn't dare to" She replied, turning to give him a wide haughty grin before running back to the hall. Arjun smiled to himself, a little prank wouldn't hurt Meera.

Meera sat behind Nitya almost invisible to the crowd as , as the two of them giggled about something while Meera patiently got Mehendi put on her hands, she was feeling extremely itchy and uncomfortable but wanted to let it be a surprise for Arjun. She peeked from the corner of her eye to see Arjun laughing with the boys about something but she had a hunch that something else was brewing in his brain and at that instant he knew she was watching her so she quickly turned away and continued to let the tingling feeling of the mehendi cone bother her. 

While they were at it, the old women began beating their dhol once again

Along with that came some rock music in the background before the light's were dimmed. Shocked at the sudden change in the ambiance, Meera came to the foreground and shifted beside Nitya to get a clear view of what was going on.

Meera was shocked to see Arjun turn around as the spotlight hit him. His tux had been changed to a Kurta and he cockily looked at her before quickly turning to perform for the audience. Suddenly the crowd has turned to cheering and hooting and Nitya enthusiastically pointed towards Arjun

Arjun had just dedicated these lyrics to some woman standing there. The woman then came forward, she was extremely pretty and dressed up.
