Lesson 27: Temptation

Temptation...

What is temptation? How do you deal with Temptation?

Sometimes in our Life or should I say that Most times in our lives... the bad sides always trying to tempt us. Tukso.

"If we are tempted by such trials, we may not say "This temptation comes from God." For God cannot be tempted by evil, and he himself tempts no one, James 1:13"

He Tempts no one. God doesn't tempts us, then Who tempts us? Is it Satan? Other people? or ourselves?

"But we are tempted when we drawn away and trapped by our own evil desires, James 1:14"

By our own Desires. It's actually by ourselves. Because we are ourselves who will decide in our life, until we let the Bad side to tempt us, then what will happen if we'll accept that?...

"Then our evil desires conceive and give birth to sin; and sin, when it is full- growth, gives birth to death, James 1:15"

Give birth to Sin--Death. Evil desires could lead to Sin. And Sin could lead to Death. Ngunit bakit ba tayo natetempt o natutukso sa buhay? Upang tayo'y subukin o guluhin? Upang palakasin ang kahinaan natin o upang tayo'y mas lalong pahinain? Remember in my Last lessons, that when problem comes, it's up to you how to handle it. Kaya't kapag tayo'y tinutukso, huwag patulan. Sa halip ay layuan....

3 reasons Why do we feel Tempted:

I'll show two stories that will portrait in this 3 reasons; the Story of First sin of Eva and Adan (Genesis 3:1-13) and the Story of Jesus Christ when Devil tempted Him when he came to the Earth (Matthew 4:1-11).

1) Lust of the Eyes

In the book of Genesis, Chapter 3, verses 6...

"The woman saw how beautiful the tree was and how good its fruit would be to eat, and she thought how wonderful it would be to become wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, and he also eat it, Genesis 3:6"

She let the evil desires destroy her that led her to the sin.

While the second one story, Matthew 4:8-9...

"Then the Devil took Jesus to a very High mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in all their greatness. "All this I will give you." The devil said, Matthew 4:8-9"

The Devil tempted Jesus like what he also did to Eva and Adan. You can find it in Matthew 4:1-11).

2) Lust of the Flesh

Tawag ng laman. In the book of Genesis, Chapter 3, with the same verses 6...

"...and how good its fruit would be to eat, and she thought how wonderful it would be to become wise. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, and he also eat it, Genesis 3:6"

And the second one is in the book of Matthew, Chapter 4, verses 2 to 3...

"After spending forty days and nights without food, Jesus was hungry. Then the Devil came to Him and said, "If you are God's son, order these stones to turn into bread", Matthew 4:2-3"

But did Jesus obey what the devil said?

"But Jesus answered, "The scripture says, 'Human beings cannot live on bread alone, but need every word that God speaks', Matthew 4:4"

He didn't.

3) Pride of Life

Last but not the Least, Genesis 3:4-5...

"The snake (Devil) replied, "That's not true; you will not die. God said that because he knows that when you eat it, you will be like god and know what is good and what is bad, Genesis 3:4-5"

Pride. Pagmamataas. Pagmamalaki. Gusto nilang maging kagaya at kataas ng panginoon kaya't nadala sila ng tukso at nagkasala.

Matthew 4:9...

"All this I will give you," the devil said, "If you kneel down and worship me, Matthew 4:9"

But did Jesus obey Satan?

"Then Jesus answered, "Go away, Satan! The scripture says, 'Worship the Lord you God and serve only Him!", Matthew 4:10"
