i sat stretching with lilly and pressley, watching gia's duet practice with sarah, who was swinging for ellie.
"it looks fun," lilly whispered. i nodded. pressley rolled her eyes.
"more excuse for gia to take ellie away from the team," she said.
abby paused, "look at yolanda up there."
the yelling in the mezzanine was so loud we could hear it from downstairs. mom gave me a weak smile and a quick roll of the eyes. i shrugged. i'd sort of gotten used to it by now.
"we're not doing this. i'm not doing this anymore," abby said, waving her hand. she looked peculiar, with a white curly wig and an annoyed expression. it reminded me of a painting i saw at a gallery and i had to cough loudly to stop myself from completely losing it.
but my laughter was wiped off when i saw how upset sarah and gia were when they left. i saw yolanda come back down again.
"don't say that this- four people- i'm defending myself- how dare you?- your kid-" the discordant yelling was pounding through my head.
is dancing here really worth all this drama?
i blinked. i had never once thought that this was the wrong decision. never once regretted it. i had always had such fun, and now i was beginning to have second thoughts.
"you've already screwed your kid up."
"i have not! that is rude!" yolanda screamed. she slammed the door and we could hear a muffled, "i'm done with this!"
