Disclaimer: This is an Inuyasha fanfiction. I do not own Inuyasha, its sequel nor their respective characters.

A/N:  I have trouble finishing/continuing long fics -_-I|| The idea came to me a day before HnY was announced (what coincidence) and at the time I was going to write Sesshomaru with one daughter. Twins never crossed my mind but this cold demon needs more girls in his future to dote on. Second chapter is being worked on but I keep changing things  x__xI||

Ships: The most obvious ones. I'm not revealing anything. But...if you've seen my library before, you would know.

Summary:

Since the feudal era, many events have happened, many things have changed and so have the lives of our main Inuyasha cast. Time continues its flow forwards.

The year is 1995: Sesshomaru and his family are returning to their homeland, while Inuyasha is preparing to celebrate his youngest child's birthday. With Japan now more accepting of youkai and hanyou, new opportunities are opening. What more, faces from the past are appearing, collapsing the steady peace in the lives of the two families. Is reincarnation even possible without the Shikon no Tama?

This is a story about family, love, happiness and new beginnings.

After story of Inuyasha with use of HnY characters, but zero plot relation it.

Thank You for Yesterday, Today and All the Tomorrows to Come

Under the bright blue sky, shelved between great green pines and sturdy boulders, a waterfall gushed into a lake. From the bank, one could see the lake rippling with an iridescent sheen. The water was beautiful and the atmosphere so crisp; it was indeed an adorable find.

The artist's hand moved deftly on the crisp pages of her journal. She was finishing off the focal point of the drawing when her sister's voice called out.

"Setsuna, come join us! The water is amazing!"

She looked up to find her sister, Towa, paddling in the water doggy style. Towa's tongue was stuck out as she struggled to stay afloat. The other occupant of the lake, their father, was sitting directly under the waterfall in his true form. His fur completely matted, resembling a creamy lump of a half-chewed up toy. Setsuna rolled her eyes, those two dorks.

The water swirled around her ankles from where she sat on a raised log. It was cold but not freezing. She preferred to stay ashore though. Too much of a hassle having to clean up and warm up after frolicking in nature's water.

"No, thanks!" She replied, sticking her head back into the drawing. She was eager to finish this drawing and the journal before they moved on in their journey.

"Awwwww!" A loud whine filled the air and she could just imagine the pout on her sister's lips.

"Somebody has to mind the campfire." She absentmindedly poked the small fire to her right.

After a few minutes of quiet splashing, Towa's voice again emerged. "Hey sis, which drawing are you gonna give Saki?"

"The whole journal, why?" Setsuna glanced at Towa, who looked crestfallen at her reply. "You haven't got anything, have you." She deadpanned.

"Well...I thought you could lend me a page to give." Her twin rubbed her white hair sheepishly.

Setsuna wondered where her sister went to when they were in town, or near town. Just a few days ago, they were in a city with multiple well-known retail shops, jewellery departments, boutiques and food outlets. It was practically a gift galore. Oh wait, she was pretty certain where Towa had spent her time...

"Do you really want to give something that similar to my gift?" She retorted. "You know how Saki is."

Towa wailed dramatically. "It's better than nothing!"

A loud splash cut off Towa's sombre mood. The waterfall showered down in an aggressive roar now that the large obstruction vacated.

"Ohhh wait a minute!" Towa swivelled around. Her lips stretched in sly glee and her eyes narrowed on the approaching figure. "What are you getting for your dear niece's birthday, dad?" She asked with a projection of innocence.

Long white hair cinched in a tall ponytail away from the water, their father waded leisurely through the water. He tilted his head at them. "I thought you two are my representatives. I was counting on your gifts to wow my beloved niece."

After saying that and leaving Towa gaping, he moved on to shore. A burst of youki later, all the water evaporated from his body. His mokomoko was still drenched and he carefully manoeuvred it around his head. He put on some clothes from their shared duffel bag and proceeded to make lunch.

"Daaaadddd!" Towa groaned. "How is that any better than me?"

"My presence is a gift in itself." Their father said loftily as he set up a few sticks around the campfire before propping up a grill. He placed a few pans on it that were filled with soups of various ingredients. "Plus, I have Jaken."

Both Setsuna and Towa groaned. "Poor Jaken," Setsuna said shaking her head.

Her sister, however, griped. "You still haven't told us where you acquired such a dutiful, 5-star servant, dad. I'm in desperate need of one."

"Jaken is unique." Their father merely answered in a slightly offended tone. His eyes twinkled though as he stirred the soups before putting lids over the pans. With her keen sense of smell, Setsuna could already tell one was filled with venison and the other a mix of carrots, potatoes and yam.

"When are we leaving tomorrow?" She asked, closing the journal to join her father.

"3 sharp. There's going to be a storm in the Pacific Ocean later on that should cover our presence. We're flying there."

Towa jumped up onto the log she was sitting on before, loud splashes from her movements. "How many hours will it be, from here to Japan? And are we going to stay with uncle?"

"Five hours with a brief stop in Hawaii. Hopefully, you can get a gift there. Wouldn't want to disappoint my beloved niece now, would you?" Father cast a sly look back at Towa. "And yes, we're staying with Inuyasha for a week."

"Only a week?!"

"Enough time to monopolise their gym equipment and playstation." Setsuna muttered. "Anymore than that, they'd be wrecked."

"Can't blame me that I'm competitive, Setsuna!" Her sister jabbed. "Those are dad's genes. The wrecking is thanks to the sore loser who I beat."

Setsuna rolled her eyes. "More like, who you goaded to."

"We'll be staying in Japan for a few months." Father continued, cutting through their conversation fluidly as he stirred the pot again. Steam rose out after the lids were removed and the two girls' mouths watered. Their father stopped what he was doing for a moment and gave them each a heavy look. "Specifically, Kyoto. After that, Setsuna, you can decide where to go."

The fire crackled between the three of them. He slowly ladled out the soups into three flasks.

While waiting for hers to be filled, Setsuna absently flipped open the journal still in her hands. Her gaze settled on the date scribbled vertically down a nook of the waterfall sketch: 1995Y · 7M · 21D. It wasn't just Saki's birthday awaiting them in Japan. Many important dates happen in August, in the height of summer, the season of vibrancy.

"Setsuna." Her father called and she looked up to see a steaming flask handed out to her. She closed the journal and with a smile, accepted eagerly. She was starving and the smell was practically begging for the food to be eaten.

"Thank you, father." She said, then softly added, "I'm looking forward to seeing mother again."

Towa piped in. "Yeah, same. There's so many things I gotta tell her."

Their father's golden eyes shimmered but he didn't say anything. The only sounds after that were from their contented slurping and the perpetual cascade of the waterfall.
