Aryam

The drums have begun to beat
Announcing his arrival.
Our breaths in anticipation,
Waiting to welcome Ishgar's Rajan,  Aryam!

His dark skin gleams at night
Rivalling the shine of the twinkling stars.
Dizzy are the maidens
At the sight of his beautiful form!
Even the forest has decked itself up.
Ever so eager to welcome the new lord.
My my! Isn't he the best of all men?

Draped in a simple golden white dhoti,
He still looks majestic.
His lovely curls kiss his forehead
Which he so gracefully brushes away.
Carries a charm that can fail thousand cupids.
Breaker of a billion hearts!
O friend, doesn't he realize
He has already stolen mine?

The beat has changed.
Foot curved in a perfect lolita,
He jumps in the air.
Swinging his foot front and back
Thumping the other foot down,
It appears as if Shiva has graced the forest.
What a sight to see indeed!

Men and women clap their hands
While little children frolic around.
Each mad with  joy!
Even the fire is too eager for a duet.
Look how it sways itself to the soft  wind,
Just like a dancer swaying her hips.
To an enchanting tune.

His footprints on the soft sand,
Lovely impressions they form.
Undeniably his mark shall stay forever
Be it the soft sand or the heart.

The night so young and enchanting
Blanketed with twinkling stars,
The moon coloured in gold and white.
Indeed the sky is in for a celebration.

It's the radiant one my gaze yearns for
Amidst the crowd.
The one whose form is illuminated
By the starry night today.
What is this feeling I feel?
Infatuation or passionate young love?
I keep on wondering..

And now he spins around the fire.
One hand in the dola hasta,
The other in a lovely alapadma
While his feet gently hit the soft sand
Sending it to fly in the air.
"A Gandharva he is, isn't he," one says.
"Oh, better than that," the other scoffs.

"Man of dreams!" I whisper to myself.

My thoughts now broken by
The sound of children giggling away
As they cling themselves to the new Rajan, surrounding him,
Prancing around with no care
While their mothers chide them with angry glares.
Yet the children don't pay a single heed.

The otherwise quiet forest is now alive.
The mist clearing the way for the eyes
As the forest inhabitants silently peep
Through the dense cover of trees.

A trail of fireflies make way to him,
Outlining his strong arms as he stands.
His right foot crossed over the left
Just like the beautiful Krishna!
His arms give a graceful wave.
The fireflies following as if
They were recurring sea waves.

I look at the surroundings around me.
It feels so surreal! So magical!
Three steps far are a group of boys
Engaging in a friendly banter
And to the side stands a man
Looking at a woman earnestly.
Perhaps he too is in love.

The king now brings his companion,
His sworn brother around the fire.
Both dance like children,
Hand in hand, laughing and giggling,
Kicking the sand in the air.
For a moment he doesn't look like a king.
Both appear like two best friends.
Happy and carefree.
Such innocence! Isn't it?

Everyone in merriment and here I lay
With my heart beating wildly.
The nightingale's song -
My only sense of comfort for my nauseous self tonight.
The drums beat loudly
Inviting each one to join in.
Tempting for me too, but should I?
Should I go and dance too?

My feet now on its own accord.
My body swaying to the music.
I can feel the tune in my soul,
Calling me, luring me to dance.
My eyes transfixed over the fire
As it calls me towards it.

"But I have never done that before," I say to myself.

The final hour of the night!
Euphoria takes over the forest
As each being joins in the celebration
Clapping and moving in circles.
The fire flames leap high
Trying to match the enthusiasm for
The final hour tonight.

I wish I could join in too
Instead of being a spectator.
But I am slightly apprehensive,
Slightly afraid of joining the crowd.
Maybe one day I would leave my own inhibitions too.

Honestly I have no idea how this was

Honestly I have no idea how this was. Somewhere I want to cringe and laugh but then I also like this. It's such a mess.

Also I wasn't planning to write it this way. But idk how did it end up like this. There are many lines in this which were unplanned. And this poem was under work since October. *wipes sweat*

Initially I thought it wouldn't take much time but it turned out the other way. Blame my apprehension and procrastination.

But we are done with it. I feel a weird sensation in my head now. I actually completed writing it today. So a goodbye for now.

Leave your honest comments here (I am still cringing and afraid of how it is but please leave your honest views.)

❤️❤️

(and if you read this without turning the song on above do that please and read the Something part for it says how both go together.

Also Walpurgisnacht is a magical song. XD. 😉)

And this poem in inspired by a character whose name is actually Aryam from the story Kama: Liberation.

I can't believe I forgot to mention this. I guess I need a nap. The final bye for today)
