"Where are we going buddy?" Varian asked his fluffy companion, Ruddiger, as the group followed him, Max, and Pascal outside of Corona's town and into the woods. Ruddiger chittered worriedly, pointing in the direction of  Janus Point.

Why would dad be at Janus Point?  Varian thought. Simultaneously, Eugene stated: "Why would Quirin be at Janus Point?" That coincidence made Varian laugh for a moment, although it was only a brief moment before a rustling in the trees made him stop and listen. Rapunzel noticed it as well, placing her hand out as to stop Eugene from continuing.

"Hey," Varian whispered to Ruddiger and the animals, motioning to the sound with his body. Max understood, and stopped his trotting. Everyone stood still. Everyone listened. Everyone watched.

*rustle* ~~ *rustle rustle*

Everyone watched the rustling closely, preparing for anything. Eugene placed his hand on his sword, Rapunzel slowly un-clipped her hair, Varian placed his hand in his bag to draw out an alchemy bomb, and all the animals readied themselves. Suddenly, the rustling stopped, and out came none other than Quirin!

"DAD!" Varian shouted, removing his hand from the bag and running over to give his father a hug. However, Quirin refused the hug, pushing Varian to the side as he caught his breath.

Varian looked at his father, confused, and once again angry? Why did he refuse my hug? Why is he running through the woods? From the direction of Janus Point? Why why why?!?!  Varian thought to himself, the anger clear in his fascinatingly blue eyes. Rapunzel noticed Varian's bubbling-over emotions, and quietly walked over to the teenager, giving him a hug from behind. Varian seems to loosen up from that, although his face still conveyed anger.

After what seemed like a million years of silence, Varian had had enough, and spoke up.

"DAD! Where have you been? What were you doing? Why are you out here? I've been looking all over for you!" Varian shouted, his emotions clear through his tone of voice and stature. Rapunzel let go of the hug as the young alchemist began walking over to his father again. Eugene tensed up, wondering what was about to happen between father and son. Honestly, it reminded him of his own father, how angry he was when he learned that all this time he'd been in the Dark Kingdom, that he had abandoned him and never came back. This was going to be an interesting interaction.

For what seemed like another million years, there was once again silence. Varian was about to blow when finally, Quirin looked up at his son, seemingly about to answer. He opened his mouth, then shut it, then opened it, then shut it once again. Varian was fuming.

"WHAT!" Varian finally yelled, just done with his dad's mysteriousness.

Quirin reacted to the loud words, startled by his son's voice. Finally, Quirin spoke.

"Varian, you need to follow me. To Janus Point. I need to show you something. Now."

At this, Varian froze, his voice unable to respond at the sudden direness of his father's tone. Seemingly noticing his shock, Eugene spoke up for Varian.

"Quirin, I don't know if you know, but this kid's been running all over town looking for you. You could at least hear him ou-" Eugene explained, but was cut off by Quirin.

"There's no time right now. He can ask his questions later. I need to show him something now." Quirin stated, his voice plain yet filled with haste.

Eugene glanced at Varian, who seemed like he was about to really explode. Then he glanced at Rapunzel, who was also watching the boy, worried. She walked up to him, trying to calm him down, but Varian just brushed her off, and stomped in the direction of Janus Point, without saying a word.

"Uhmmm..." Eugene said, watching the teen stomp away. "Should we talk to him?"

"I'm not sure." Rapunzel sighed, glancing sideways at Quirin, who was now following his son. Ruddiger skipped after them, catching up to Varian and hopping on his shoulder. "I guess we should follow."

Eugene nodded in agreement, hopping on Max, Rapunzel hopping on behind him. She hugged his chest, Pascal once again on her shoulder, as they headed off at a trot following the strained family of two.

~Skip to arrival at Janus Point~

Upon seeing, the dry, dark, and dire ruins of Janus Point, Varian stopped walking. Ruddiger chittered from his shoulder, trying to give his master confidence to proceed. Behind him, Quirin pushed past Varian and continued up the hill, until he was waiting in front of a large empty basin.

A minute or so later, Rapunzel and Eugene trotted up, and Rapunzel explained that there used to be a tree in the basin. Varian nodded, staring at the basin, not moving towards it. The two trotted off towards it, also stopping near the edge of the basin, although not near Quirin. Finally, Varian sighed, and completed his mission of arriving at the basin. He stood there in front of the giant thing, in shock and awe for a moment, until he felt his anger return, and pivoted towards his father.

Quirin looked at his son. He knew he had made him angry, but right now that didn't matter. He would apologize later. Right now, he had to test his theory. He had to make sure Varian was ok. He had to keep the secret hidden, the truth buried.

Little did he know, Varian already knew part of the secret, he had already unburied most of the truth.

Most of it.

(A/N) Heyyyyyyyyyy guyyyyyyyyyyys! Sorry it's been a few days since the last update! Anyways, here it is! Finally found Quirin, but it was not what Varian was expecting.

Sorry this chapter is shorter than the last couple, the next will be longer though to make up for it.

You guys can probably guess what this "secret" is, but I won't spoil anything yettttt.

The next chapter should be out relatively soon! Thanks for all the support I've been getting, I really appreciate it.

As always, if you enjoyed it please vote and/or comment! If you have any constructive criticism, feel free to tell me in the comments.

And if you are interested, I'm going to be starting a new story, which is a crossover of Tangled and Big Hero Six! (Not sure when I'll actually start it, but I will eventually)

Thanks~
