(A/N) Hey Guys! Sorry this part is a bit late, school kinda got in the wayyyyy.

"Varian~"

"Find the source..."

~~~
Varian shot awake, jumping up as he did. Beside him Ruddiger had been sleeping peacefully, but was now fully awake and staring up at his human companion. Varian rubbed his eyes in confusion, wondering where he was, and yawning as he thought. Then he remembered: he had fallen asleep on Rapunzel's bean bag! In her room! The princess' room! He shook his head, blinking quickly in a repeated pattern to make sure he was actually awake.
Why? When? Did Rapunzel put me there? Did I put myself there? Was she ok with that?  Varian thought worriedly, hoping he hadn't inconvenienced the princess. And what was that dream?  He thought as he began to remember the voice and the void. He shook his head again, this time to clear it of those thoughts. He'd have time to think about it later. He had to find Rapunzel.
Varian looked over to the grand bed in the vaulted room. Rapunzel wasn't in it. Varian panicked that maybe she'd slept somewhere else because of him.
"Ruddiger, go find Rapunzel!" Varian told his furry friend. Ruddiger nodded in understanding and scurried off out the door, searching for the princess as Varian stood frozen in his own thoughts.
Snap OUT of it Varian! You'll have time to think about that voice later! Gotta Rapunzel and let her know you're awake! Let her know you're sorry for intruding!  He told himself, mentally scolding himself.
He finally got himself to move, and headed to the door. quickly checking the time before he left.
"Wha- It's 9:30 AM?! I slept in so late!" Varian yelped, almost shouting it to the clock. He then hurried his pace to find Rapunzel. He needed to check on her, let her know he's awake, eat something, then start on his studies of the Stardrop. He didn't know what exactly he'd start with on his studies, but he was eager to get to them.
*Time Skippu to finding Rapunzelllll*
Varian had been searching for about 15 mins when he finally saw the vibrant purple of Rapunzel's dress.
"Rapunzel!" Varian yelled.
"Wha-Oh, Varian! You're up! I was actually gonna go check on you! How'd you sleep?" Rapunzel responded, cheery as always.
"Oh, uh, I slept really well, thanks. Also, sorryforsleepinginyourroomIdidn'trealizeIwasinthere!" Varian answered, quite quickly.
"Woah, it's ok Varian! I'm the one who told you you could stay there! I'm just glad you slept well, especially after all the events of yesterday!" She told him, smiling brightly. She was relieved that the young alchemist had gotten some good rest, she'd been worried about his mental state. She walked over to him and gave him a big hug. Varian seemed surprised at first, but gratefully embraced her back.
"Thanks, Rapunzel." Varian whispered to her. "Thanks for being there yesterday and supporting me."
"Of course, Varian. I'll always be there for you, I-I promise. And that's a promise I'll keep." Rapunzel whispered back, being careful with her words.
Varian looked up at Rapunzel, then smiled and broke away from the hug.
"So, what's your plan now?" Rapunzel asked.
"Well, I was gonna grab something to eat, find Ruddiger, then head to the library to start my research on this 'Stardrop'." Varian responded.
Rapunzel nodded in response. "Well, if you need anything let me know. And please, keep me updated on what you find. Eugene as well. He's been super worried about you!"
Varian nodded and smiled, then headed off towards the kitchen to get something to eat. Ruddiger mysteriously showed up behind him, jumping on his shoulder as he padded away.
~~~

Once Varian reached the kitchen, he grabbed a few pastries from the counter before the cooks could notice. Then, he handed an apple to Ruddiger and headed towards the Royal Library. Arriving upon the doors, he pushed them open, to reveal the great vaulted room. Shelves reached all the way to the ceiling, covered in books on things from animals, cooking, plant life, alchemy, fantasy stories, autobiographies, to legends, scrolls, newspapers, flyers, and journals. In the center of the grand room was a very large round table, with comfy chairs circling it. In one corner was a reasonably sized desk with a spinny-chair (that's what I call them) and a tower of books on it, with an open notebook beside it. That was his desk. He'd asked Rapunzel to give him his own desk, since he had kept taking up much of the round table and others were annoyed. Varian smirked, then headed over to his desk.

"Been awhile, hasn't it?" Varian said out-loud. "What, like 3 days?" He then laughed at himself for talking to a desk, and Ruddiger hopped off his shoulder onto the sturdy desk.

"Might as well start." Varian said once again out-loud. He then proceeded to clear the desk. He closed the open notebook, put all the writing utensils aside, and grabbed the stack of books and moved them to the floor. Once the desk was clutter-free and dusted off, Varian began searching for anything on the 'Stardrop'.

He searched for a bit, finding a few books on legends such as Coronian Legends of Old, Legends and Myths, and one simply called Legends. He also found an old journal, presumably of some old-timey legend master that mentioned the Heavenly Powers. After grabbing these, he headed back to his desk. He placed each item down, then rummaged around in his bag until he found his mother's journal and the mysterious scroll.

Might as well re-read her journal. Maybe I missed something.  Varian thought.

He began his research by recording anything he deemed important from his mother's journal. Mostly, anything relating to where she had gone to find it, the date she left, and the pieces of translation she had decoded.

Darn! She wrote down some translation, but not a translation key! Guess I'll make one. I still know the one from the Demanitus scroll, but this is different. I'll have to come up with a new version.  Varian thought to himself. He proceeded to then rewrite his Demanitus Scroll translation key down in his new notebook. Hopefully I don't get kidnapped for this again.  Varian thought, chuckling to himself but also very aware of the events that had happened last time he translated an ancient scroll. He eventually had the entire key transcribed. He dropped his writing utensil and sighed heavily.

"Finally! I forgot how long that was! Now, time to try to translate this scroll." He said aloud. He looked over at Ruddiger, who had been sleeping on the pile of books he placed on the desk. "I think it's time we moved down to the lab." Ruddiger raised his head sleepily, but jumped onto Varian's shoulder nevertheless. Varian then gathered all his tools and resources, placing them in his bag or carrying them himself, and proceeded to his lab. Now that he had the original translation key, and the pieces his mother had decoded, he could truly start his research. But, he works better in his lab, so he'd decided to move there.

"This'll be 'fun'." Varian muttered as he slowly but surely made his way to the staircase leading to his laboratory. "Let's translate!" He dropped his books onto the makeshift desk in his lab, placed his bag down, and spun in a circle, excited. He'd completely forgotten about the mysterious voice in his dream, and he could only focus on his newfound task.

He would translate the Stardrop Scroll.

(A/N) Hey guys! Thanks for reading! Again sorry for it being a bit later than usual. I've been busy with school stuff, big tests are all happening now lol.

Anyways, thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed it. The next chapter will basically be a continuation of this one, with some actual translation schtuff happening. And don't worry, I kinda skipped over that entire "voice" thing, but it'll be important later. : )

As always, if you enjoyed, consider voting. If you have any constructive criticism, feel free to comment! I'm open to any ideas on where to take this story.

Thanks~
