"Hello Ahamid?" I ask answering the phone
"Lily!" He says, "I'm hope I'm not interrupting anything"
"No your not at all, have you got that list for me?" I ask
"Yes, the postal service is very slow I thought that i'll just call" he says and i nod... not like he can see me nodding anyway
"One second I'll just get some paper and a pen" i say
"Okay" he says
"Have you got any paper?" I ask Lydia
"Some in my bag" she says getting up and she hands me a piece of paper and a pen
"Thank you" i say and she smiles
I glance around the room and they are all staring at me.
I walk away from them all and i head into the kitchen where they can't hear me and I put him on speaker.
"Do you want me to list them?" He asks
"Please" i say
"50 Pencils, 10 colouring books, 40 note books, 200 toothbrushes, 300 bars of soap, 75 hair brushes and hair ties, 50 t-shirts, 20 scarfs, 5 nail clippers and files, 100 pillows or some sort of blanket, twenty compact mirrors, 200 toothpastes but can you put that in a separate box incase they explode?" He asks
"Yes I can do that" I tell him
"That's great! Also around around 100 sets of kitchen appliances like plates and cutlery" he says
"Is that it?" I ask
"Yes that it" he says
"It's not a lot" i say
He chuckles and I put him off speaker, "trust me Lily, it's a lot"
"Okay, well just let me know if there is anything else they need" I say
"I will do, thank you very much for your work" he says
"It's not work Ahamid, I like doing this" i say
"I'm glad Lily, I better get going" he says
"Stay safe!" I say
"Thank you Princess" he says before hanging up
He's so sweet. He does so much for the families that live there.
I head back into the living room with my list and i look at it.
I open my phone and go onto Amazon whilst everyone else talks about random stuff.
"What are you doing?" Lydia asks me
"Ahamid, has given me a list of the things the villages need so I'm going to buy them so I can get it delivered and then I can send it to Kenya" i say and she smiles
"What do they need?" She asks me
"Here" i say giving her the list
"200 pillows or blankets" she says
"They are only small villages but I'm just going to buy both for them" i say and she nods
"What are you doing?" Lucy asks me
"Just a few years back I visited two villages in Kenya and gave them some clothes and helped them with farming and clean water systems" i say
"Really?" She asks and i nod, "that's so cool!"
"What's the point?" Issac asks
"What do you mean what's the point?" I ask looking at him
"They are just going to die sooner or later so what's the point" he says
"Any of us can die sooner or later. It's just a nice thing to help others who are less fortunate than I am. Yeah in your words 'they may die soon' but at least I am improving their standard of living and maybe they might just live a little longer with my help them without, alright Issac. So you can fuck off with your negativity cause it's not wanted you ungrateful, uneducated swine" i say and I see Lydia, Izzy, Lucy and Daniel smile at me
He doesn't say anything and I lean back in the sofa and turn my attention back to the list.
"Your dads calling" Lydia says
"Oh god" i say
"Dad, what's up?" I ask him answering the phone
"How come you haven't told me about this speech your doing?" He asks, "I'm so proud!"
"Well dad it's not like you can come and watch is it?" I ask him
"Well, I'll find a way" he says and i smile
"I've been talking to Ahamid" i say
"Your not going back there Lily, it's a war zone" he says
"I know, I asked Ahamid to send me a list and I'm going to send over supplies they need" I tell him
"That's good but how are you paying for this?" He asks
"Your credit card?" I say quietly and Lydia laughs quietly beside me
"No your not" he says
"What do you mean?" I ask
"Your going to pay for it" he says, "it will be fun to watch"
"Fine, I'll get a job and pay myself" i say
"That's my girl" he says
"I love you, and your mother loves you. She wants to know if you've been on another date with that boy?" He asks
"You can tell mum" i say looking at Izzy, "that it wasn't a date"
Izzy bursts out laughing.
"Okay darling whatever you say" he says
"Dad, it wasn't a date" i say
"Hmm hmm" he says
"Dad. If it was a date, which it isn't I wouldn't have told you" I say
"Okay darling" he says
"It wasn't a date" i say getting annoyed
"Okay" he says
"I love you I've go to go" i say
"Okay, I love you too" he says, "but it was a date" he adds before hanging up
"What wasn't a date?" Issac asks me
"Oh her-" Lydia begins
"Nothing" i say, "it's none of your business and I'd appreciate if you stop spreading rumours"
"So how was the meal?" Luke asks Lydia
"Good, great food! And my dads bosses daughter is really chatty to everyone" Lydia says
"So is his son" I add on and Izzy laughs
"What do you mean?" Olly asks
"Oh it's nothing, I'll tell you later" Izzy says
I smirk and Lydia glares at me and I take the list of her.
"Does anyone know how I can get a job?" I ask
"Get a CV and apply" Lucy tells me
"What's a CV?" I ask Lydia
"We've got a lot of work to do" she groans.
