Chapter 56

It's been a few months since Amy was born and everything is going amazing. She is the most amazing little girl. She doesn't cry much and she is smiling all the time. We had moved to Vancouver for a month since I wasn't working and Jensen was so we could be together.

When I returned to work, the adjustment was hard but we made it. Of course I'm working less hours but it's better than sitting home all day. When I'm at work and Jensen is away Amy is staying with my parents. She and my dad spend a lot of time together. He just puts her in the stroller and they go for long walks which they both enjoy.

Today Jensen came home and he is staying for a whole week. He called me and said that he picked up Amy from my parents' house and they are already home. I'm on my way home now and I can't wait to see him again.

As soon as I walked home, I see Jensen dressing up. "Hey" he says
"Hey, welcome back" I say and we kiss "Where are you going?" I ask
"Jared and I are gonna go to the gym. So some boxing maybe... You know" he says
"Yeah" I say
"Should I stay home? Do you need me?" he asks
"No, no, go. It's ok" I say and I kiss him.

"Thanks. Amy was still asleep from the car so I put her into bed" he says
"Ok. Just make sure he doesn't hit your face" I say as he gets his keys and walks to the door
"Cause you like it?" he asks and kisses me
"No. It's because your face is the money maker" I say and I smile. His smile drops and I chuckle. "I'm kidding. I love you" I say and I kiss him
"Love you too" he says.

Teh next day was gonna be really tiring for me. After getting ready, I fed Amy and I hand her to Jensen "I'm leaving for work and as soon as I'm done, I'll go directly to the seminar so I'll be back around midnight and I'll need to leave again early the tomorrow morning for work and again be back late. I've pumped milk for Amy, it's in the fridge and I'll pump more when I come back. I've cooked for you and your food is also in the fridge" I say
"Ok" he says
"Listen to me carefully, the amount of food I've cooked for you is for two days. Two days. If you eat it all today, then you cook or find yourself something because I won't have time to cook tomorrow, got it?" I ask
"Yes. Have a nice day" he says and kisses me
"You too" I say and I kiss Amy before I leave.

I returned home late and I was hungry and exhausted. "Welcome back" Jensen whispers as he hears me open the door
"You should have gone to sleep" I say
"It's ok, are you tired?" he asks while massaging my shoulders
"Yeah. I'm gonna eat and then I'm gonna go to sleep" I say and I get up to go to the kitchen
"Wait, no, I thought you would have eaten outside" he says almost panicking
"You ate all the food, didn't you?" I ask
"It was delicious" he says and I smile.
"I hate you" I say and I kiss him.
"You go get a shower and I'm gonna go make you something real quick" he says
"Ok" I say and he kisses me before he leaves for the kitchen.

The next day, I was even more tired than the previous night. So I returned home from one of the most tiring night shifts of my life. "Hey" Jensen says but I ignore him. "I was just calling you to see when are you coming" he says
"I forgot my phone in the lounge" I say as I collapse on the couch "And I need to go back now..." I say
"No, it's ok" he says
"I need it. What if I get paged?" I ask
"Ok. You get something to eat, I made lunch, and sleep. I'm gonna go get it" he says
"Really?" I ask
"Yeah, why not?"
"Ok. Ask for help though. Don't go somewhere that you'll see something you shouldn't" I say
"Ok" he says and pecks my lips before he leaves.

By the time Jensen returned, I had already eaten lunch and was getting ready to go get some sleep. But he slowly sits on the couch and I turn to look at him. By his expression I can see that he is not ok. He his eyes were slightly watery and he seemed a bit lost. So I go sit next to him quickly
"Are you ok baby? What happened? Is it about what I said this morning. I'm sorry if I made you feel bad" I say rubbing his cheek.
"It's not you" he says
"Then who?" I ask worried
"That intern of yours, Gavin. He helped me find your things in the hospital" he says but I still can't understand what's wrong.
"Ok, so?" I ask
"He saw the pictures of Amy that I have on my lockscreen--"
"What did he say about my child? I'm gonna kill him" I say angry
"He didn't say anything about her. He thought that it was my grandchild" he says and I try my best to hold back my laugh.

"Don't laugh" he says
"I'm... I'm not. I promise" I say still fighting with the laughter. "That's it?" I ask
"I... I'm getting old..." he say and I hug him
"Come on, are you gonna listen to him now? You get better with age baby" I say and I kiss him
"Are you sure?" he asks
"Yes. I mean from the photos I've seen, in your 20s you were a baby and now--"
"In my 40s" he says interrupting me with that sad look on his face
"Yes. Now in your 40s you are a really well-aged guy. You have a beautiful daughter that adores you and a wife that loves you very very much and believes that you're the hottest man alive" I say
"She does?" he asks
"Of course. To me you are at your best babe" I say
"I love you" he says
"I love you too" I say and I hug him.

The next day when I went to work, I found Gavin in the lounge. "Gavin can I talk to you for a second?" I ask
"Of course" he says
"Listen..." I say as I sit down "... in my life, I have two motives to kill. First, my kid and second, the green-eyed beauty that came yesterday. Do again something similar to what you did to him and I'll make sure you don't see the inside of an OR again" I say calmly and smiling
"Oh my God, Dr Ackles, I'm really sorry. It's not gonna happen again" he says in a shaky voice
"Great. Thank you. Have a nice day" I say and I leave.

After work, as soon as I got, I met Jensen. "Hey, be quite. I just put Amy down" he says
"Ok" I say and I go to kiss him
"How was work today?" he asks
"It was fine I guess. How are you feeling today grandpa? Does your back hurt?" I ask and I laugh. "I'm kidding" I say and I kiss him wrapping my arms around his neck and he wraps his arms around my waist.
"That's not funny" he says
"It is actually" I say and he rolls his eyes. "Hey, you know that I love you, right?" I ask
"I know" he says smiling
"And I'm gonna love you and I'm gonna love you even when you get old and grumpy" I say and I kiss him
"Me too" he says and kisses me again.
