Painful Memories
The Hufflepuffs were a prideful house the night of the first task. They celebrated Cedric's victory as the whole house's victory.
Hufflepuffs were known for their fun celebratory karaoke party nights.
"Go on, Diggory! You're the champion! Sing a song for us!" Shouted one of his friends.
"Uh.. You know I'm not great at singing.." Cedric replied, feeling his face flush.
"Come on Cedric! Sing a song!"
"Sing a song!"
Well, the whole house was practically urging Cedric to have his turn with the karaoke. How could he disappoint?
He didn't disappoint. His voice was soft and husky but you could tell he was just joking around with his singing.
"Alright. Alright. Should we open this stupid gold egg?"
"Open it! Open it! Open it!" They chanted.
Y/N leaned in closer, as she was curious too.
The egg looked surreal close up. The soft light of the Hufflepuff common room complimented the shiny golden egg.
Cedric carefully twisted the top of the egg and opened it.
Almost immediately, the whole house heard a violently loud, screeching noise coming from the egg.
Cedric closed the egg quickly. Clouds of confusion taking over his silver eyes.
"Blimey! What was that noise??" Asked one of Cedric's mates.
Y/N was shocked at the strange sound that was released from the egg. Although, she was sure she heard of something that might have sounded like that.
She recalled reading a chapter in her A Guide to Mythical Creatures book that she borrowed from the library that mentioned something about an annoyingly loud noise that had a hidden message when heard from… she didn't quite remember.
Y/N decided she would have to take another look at the book soon.
"Alright. Alright. I think that's enough for tonight. Off to bed now, all of you!" The Hufflepuff Prefect ordered as he waved the group off to their dorms.
-
Little Y/N watched as her loving parents' figures slowly dissolved as they neared the horizon.
Her parents visibly resisting to being painfully dragged away from their precious newborn daughter.
"Darling, I'm so sorry to tell you this, but your parents are gone. They aren't coming back. I'm sorry sweetheart." Aunt Rosalie had cooed to a baby Y/N in her arms, while she sobbed quietly from the loss of her brother and sister in law.
-
Y/N woke up with a start. She felt a few tear drops in her eyes.
"Oh, you're up early." Aurelia said, looking over at Y/N's side of the room while she finished making her bed.
Y/N wiped her tears away with a yawn to play it off. "Yeah. Surprising, huh?"
"You're never up this early, Y/N.. I'll leave you to get ready." Aurelia said frowning as if she knew something was up with her friend and then finally leaving the room.
At least they had left money for her. Y/N's pureblood parents were richer than most wizards, but not enough to be the same rank as some wizarding families such as the Malfoys or Evans. She was still lucky to have a peculiar cat such as Lyra.
Lyra was a black bombay cat with white tufts of fur on her chest. Lyra's eyes were an icey, pale gray color with large spots of silver. Almost like Ced's eyes. Ironic.
After Y/N finished freshening up, she picked up her clean, ironed uniform and started dressing.
Y/N would have to visit the library today to check out that book again.
No, it wasn't for Cedric's sake. It was for her own curiosity.
Lyra meowed in annoyance while sitting in front of the door, her tail swishing impatiently.
"Alright I'm coming, sheesh."
Y/N loved her cat, but sometimes.. she could be a bit sassy.
Lyra flicked her head back towards Y/N as if knowing what she said.
But it was true that Y/N loved her cat. At Hogwarts, before she met her friends, Y/N had been lonely without her aunt's usual company. So, Lyra was her solution. They spent lots of time together until Aurelia transferred over from Beauxbatons. And then they met Alice.

Aurelia made her way to her favorite spot in the common room. Nobody really used her nook. Especially since Aurelia made sure everyone knew not to bother it. So, when Aurelia saw her lovely nook, tattered in pieces, she took it as a personal insult against herself. She worked so hard to make that corner fit her personality and comfort. She recalled the lights and pieces of fabric she sewed and put together. Whoever it was, she was about to destroy them.
A small sound of snickering was heard close by the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room. She whipped her head around to see.. a sliver of green.
A Slytherin? In another house's dormitories? This early in the morning?
Oh this was going to be fun.
She strode over there and pulled the two hoods back. Two familiar faces looked back at her with terrified expressions.
One was a slim girl with straight brown hair and fair skin. She was familiar.. What was her name again?.. Pugsy Parkinglot? No.. oh that's right! Pansy Parkinson. And..
Oh yeah. This was going to be fun.
A boy with straight platinum blonde hair and stone-gray eyes looked back at her. Draco Malfoy.
"Malfoy."
"Uhh.. haha fancy seeing you here, Evans?"
Aurelia's blood boiled at the sight of this boy.
"Ah. Of course. Why wouldn't I fancy seeing you here as well? A Slytherin student in the Hufflepuff dormitories in the early morning. What would Mr. Malfoy think of his stupidly obnoxious, bratty son when he hears that you were here to bother the youngest and only daughter of the Evans family? I wonder."
Aurelia and Draco had met a couple times at the others' manor because of their fathers being close with work in the Ministry of Magic. Of course, Mr. Evans had a higher position. Aurelia had never liked Draco's attitude. So, it was quite satisfying for Aurelia to put him in his place every so often.
Draco's smirk quickly disappeared and he tried to make a run for the door.
Aurelia quickly grabbed Draco by the robe again.
