Chapter 7: The Confession

The Sunshine Restaurant wasn't really a quiet one. It was especially packed during this time of day. Ji-Pyeong asked the lady in charge to set them up at the remote corner.

"Is that okay?" He asked Dal-Mi who was typing something in her phone. It was a message to Chul-san that she would be joining them a little later.

"Anywhere is fine," she said, putting it away in her pocket.

They took seats facing each other, neither of them being able to look directly into the other's eye. Ji-Pyeong's heart raced rapidly as he offered Dal-Mi the letter he had written.

"As promised," he said, his face turning a little red.

"Mr. Han," Dal-Mi said as she placed the letter inside her bag. "I want to hear directly from you first."

Ji-Pyeong joined her gaze as she held them with confidence. There was a different kind of expression in them. She had never looked at him like that before.

"Where shall I start?" Ji-Pyeong asked, finding it harder by the second to face her without his mask on. "As you already know, it was your grandmother's idea to write you those letters. She wanted to see you smile because all you did was cry those days."

Dal-Mi knew what he was talking about. After In-Jae and her mother left, she felt that the world had swallowed her whole. She would cry in her room all day because she didn't know what else to do. Her father would be job hunting all the time, leaving her completely alone most of the times.

"Why did you go along with it?" She asked. "You could've said no and moved on."
