Later that same Friday, June

-Your POV-

"Boarding for flight 815. Passengers of flight 815, please join the boarding line." You slowly let go. The feelings you had for him were so confusing. Miserably, you shuffled over to the gate. It had been hard enough to take your leave from Jake, but this? "Promise you'll come back.", Jason said. But you didn't turn around. You couldn't recall whether the flight had been eventful or not; everything was so blurry and you felt so... hollow. You called a taxi to drive home. Your old home, where you had spent your childhood. Well, before it happened. You sighed and glided your hand along the rough stone walls greeting you. Leaving your luggage in the entranceway, you went upstairs to take a shower. The intention had been to get your mind off of things, but it went terribly wrong. The hot water pattering on your skin made your mind race all the more. When the thought of your grandfather was too much to bear, you aggressively smacked the tap, turning off the heat instantly. You got dressed and walked to the local hospital.

The hospital was a rather busy place. Children with broken arms and pregnant women filled the waiting room. Life was happening there and then, all around your confused soul. You hurried towards the information desk and asked for your grandfather. After a long time of silence, the attendant at the desk could manage only to tell you he had died two days ago. Suddenly the white waiting room slowly darkened and tears welled up in your eyes. Too late. "Miss? Are you alright?", the blonde woman on the other side of the counter asked. Too late. You nodded and ran to the bathroom. Locking yourself into a cabinet, you broke down in tears. "This isn't fair!", you screamed. Too late. You didn't care if there were other people, nothing existed anymore. There was only you, the white cabinet in a white bathroom in a white building and pain. You're too late. Still sobbing silently, you slowly dialed your grandfather's number, but he didn't answer. This couldn't be real. The nurse must've lied! This was wrong, so so terribly wrong. "___, are you in here?", I soft elderly voice asked. How long had you been in here? "Leave me alone!" "___, unlock the door! You're not making this easier. For both of us!" Your grandmother was right, but you sniffeled and ignored her plea. "Please come out. The nurse called me on my way to the funeral..." You unlocked the door and walked past her, through the waiting room and outside the hospital. Mothers were holding their children and looking at you suspiciously. You found your grandmother's small red car and tried to open the passenger's door, only to find it locked. More tears slipped down your cheeks,  your face covered in already sticky hair. You just wanted to leave! Get away from all these people, all these emotions you couldn't cope with. The car's lights blinked and your grandmother approached it.

"Please change into something black if you'd be so nice.", your only family member drove up to the three story building holding your childhood apartment. You nodded and left the car. Walking up to the mirror in the hallway, you changed into a long sleeve black shirt and a black skirt. You pinned up your hair and fixed your puffy face as best you could. Within only a few minutes you were back out on the street and entering your grandmother's car. She coughed weakly and started the engine. You stared at her as if she had already turned into a ghost. Oh no. And as if she could read your mind, she responded: "Don't worry, it's just a little--", her fragile body was shaken by another cough. There weren't many people at the funeral, but it was ok. You didn't want anyone around you right now except for your grandma. After you said your goodbyes and the coffin disappeared underground, you snuggled into her arms and started sobbing again. "Let's go home child. I never liked the cemetery." You nodded silently and followed her back to the car, taking one last look at your grandfather's grave.

You parked the car and went inside together. After slumping down onto the couch, you instantly curled up into a ball. This is my parents all over again. But this time there's no grandpa holding me. Your grandmother sat down next to you, wrapped you into your former favourite blanket and held you in her arms instead. "I'm so sorry grandma.. I... I should've been here, by your side.", you sobbed loudly. "Shhh...", she tried to calm you down. "It's not your fault." She's right. It's not your fault. It's Jasons.
