a/n: i just watched ep. 3 of dr3, and now i'm inspired. also, ima assume reserve course students don't get dorms

"hajime!"

he stopped walking and turned towards chiaki and i.

"chiaki and i wanted to ask if you wanted to co-op with us!"

i ran up to him and held out his 'gamer girl advance' to him, a smile on my face. he stared at it for a bit before gently pushing my hand down.

"i...can't, i have to be somewhere....maybe later...."

"oh, okay! i guess i'll see ya later then..!"

hajime showed a small smile, but i noticed that it faded as he turned away and started walking away.
'is he....alright? maybe natsumi's death shocked him?

i looked down at his gaming device, my worried expression reflecting off of the screen.

"hey, hey. are you alright, y/n?"

i turned to chiaki, a smile on my face.

"yep! just a bit disappointed cuz hajime didn't wanna play with us. but it's fine, i'm fine! you don't need to worry so much about me, chiaki! but that's what makes you a good friend, so worry if you wanna!"

i spoke fast that i'm pretty sure that she didn't understand me.

"if you say so..wanna co-op for a bit..?"

i nodded, chiaki and i sitting on a nearby bench.

i quietly groaned as i had lost the game for the third time in a row.

"you win again, chiaki!"

"your focus is everywhere, you need more concentration if you actually wanna win"

i chuckled.

"i'll concentrate more next time then"

chiaki glanced at me.

"did something happen?"

"what do you mean?"

"i've never told you to concentrate before because you're usually so focused on beating me and hajime. are you alright?"

". . . . ."

i then laughed.

"yeah, i'm fine! since hajime isn't here with us, i had to take his place! i had to not focus in order to be him!"

i stood up from the bench.

"now, i'll see you and hajime tomorrow"

i grabbed my bag and rushed towards the entrance gate.

i arrived at my house, panting each second, since i ran here. i unlocked my door and walked in. i then went to my bedroom, but saw a folded note stuck onto the door with tape. i took it off and looked at it.

"to: y/n l/n
from: hajime hinata"

i opened the paper, leaned against a wall, and began reading.

"dear y/n
i'm sorry. i know you and chiaki told me that talent didn't matter, but i can't help but feel like the two of you are wrong. without talent, society just sees you as some unwanted screw-up who can't do anything right. i learned that when i ran into the head of security. to make matters worse, he wouldn't tell me anything about natsumi's death and why they were just pushing it under the rug just because i don't have a talent.
well, some of the headmasters at the school told me that there was a way for me to have a talent.
with this artificial talent, i'd be able to be a beacon of hope for everybody. i'd be useful, i'd be important, i'd be needed. i wouldn't be a waste of space anymore.
the only downslide is that they said that i might become a different person altogether. i might not care about what i care about now after this....'experiment'. so i wanted to tell you and chiaki something:
thank you both for being my friends, for putting up with me. even if i turn into a different persona, i won't forget the love and support the two of you showed me. you two are the biggest beacons of hope i've ever met, and it could save the world if something happened. again, thank you for all the two of you have done for me.

i felt tears rolling down my face as i slid down the wall. i began crying into my knees until my mom saw me and started comforting me.

wow, that's probably angst. oh, also, unrelated thing, but 'therefore i am' is great.
but yeah, i tried to make the letter make sense and not repeat anything while still trying to make it seem like something hajime would write. but i kinda failed, i made hajime act like nagito.
lastly, if i had to kin somebody in danganronpa, it'd be hajime cuz he's my all-time fave character in dangan and we're kinda similar, i think
