Okay, gonna try something new with alternating POV's, let me know if you like it! This one here was suggested by @Savage_Cabbagem. Requests are always open if you have something you'd like to see! So just sit back and enjoy the story!

(Amity's POV)

I had a million thoughts running through my head as I stared at the rose gold ring in my hand. "You're really gonna do this, huh, Amity?" I whispered to myself as I sat on the couch. "You're really going to ask her to marry you... Ugh, it sounds even crazier when I say it out loud!' I groaned and flopped further down into the cushions.

"I thought you liked grilled cheese?" Luz said, standing in the doorway between the kitchen and the living room, holding two plates with sandwiches.

"Oh! Luz!" I nearly dropped the ring as I hastily shoved it into the pocket of my leggings. "No, it's not that, I do like grilled cheese, thank you." As she sat down, I took one of the plates from her and kissed her lightly on the cheek. As we ate we talked about a bunch of random things, which was honestly pretty normal for us. Trying to have an on-topic conversation with Luz is like trying to get a puppy to stop looking cute, it's impossible.

"I can't believe we've almost been dating for 8 years, can you?" She asked with a grin. In about a month, it'll be our eight-year anniversary.

"I know, it's crazy!" I said, finishing the last bite of my sandwich. I suddenly remembered how oblivious she was back then. Actually, not much has changed, it'll be a miracle if she hasn't caught on to the fact I'd been hiding a ring from her for the past week.

(Luz POV)

As I took our plates back to the kitchen to wash them, I couldn't help but think that something was off with her. What was she muttering about before I came in? I know Hooty bugged her yesterday when we went back to the Owl House, but she's normally fine once his abnormally high pitched voice stops ringing in her ears. No, that can't be it, maybe I should ask her? I dried the plates and sat down beside her again.

"Is something wrong, mi amor?" I took her hand. "You can talk to me, you know that right?"

"Of course I do," She started, but her face turned all red again. "But, you have enough on your plate right now." She gave me that small, soft smile of hers.

"If Hooty was bugging you, I'll get King to put duct tape over his beak next time we go over if you want?" I gave her hand a light squeeze. It was like our way of saying 'I love you' without actually having to say anything.

"As nice as it would be to have him shut up for more than 17 seconds, don't worry about it, Luz." She pulled me into a hug, and I rested my head in her soft light brown hair. She stopped dying it after we moved in together, and her mom couldn't make her keep it green anymore. "Okay, I have to go into the markets for a few things, would you mind cleaning up around here a bit?" She stood up and grabbed her cloak from the hook by the door.

"Oh, yeah, of course! See you soon!" I waved as she left. I couldn't help but notice she didn't squeeze back. I gasped as the thought hit me. Does Amity want to break up with me? I know I haven't been at home a lot lately, but that's because I've been talking with Eda about how I should do this...

I ran over to the Owl House. I needed advice on this.

"Oh! Luz! You're back, hoot hoot!" Hooty's annoying voice yelled as I walked up to the door.
