2015

Seoul Art High School, Seoul

Jeon jungguk. The unbeatable taekwondo champion. Though he was the youngest(1st year student) amongst all his club members but no one really had the guts to challenge him except their club president, Kim Songyeon. He was a final year student.

He had a younger sister, Kim Yuri, who was a total brat.It was her hobby to lie to her brother about other students beating her for some lame reasons. His dumbhead brother used to believe in her without even cross questioning and so many of our classmates were beaten by him and his gang after school. They were never caught.
Jungguk, Yuri and I were unfortunately in the same class. I was a nerd. Yuri and I never really talked to each but I knew she wanted to put me into some trouble. Obviously she envied every academic success of mine.

Gguk and I were good friends. I used to help him in studies while he used to teach me taekwondo after school. I told him one day that I wanted to learn it but my parents had no money to pay for classes. He willfully offered me to join him after school for practice. I happily agreed.

I knew he had a secret crush on me. Even I loved him more than just a friend. But I was always afraid to take the next step.
He was too busy as compared to a normal high school boy. Taekwondo kept him busy till 5 pm everyday. He was about to debut as an idol within a month. His schedule was getting busier day by day and my mind, more and more confused about him.

16th August, 3pm

Lee Y/n pov

I was keeping my English test paper in the bag when the bell rang. Students were rushing out of the class when I felt someone tapping my shoulder.
It was Yuri. "So you nerdy thing got the highest marks in English paper right?"
I completely ignored her and continued packing my bag. I felt a sudden pain on my right cheek. She slapped me.
Within no time she grabbed my arm and pushed me to other side. I fell on the floor but before I could analysis anything, she landed herself on my stomach and started pulling my hair.
I tried to get out of her hold but miserably failed.
I kept trying and finally I felt her grip getting loose. In no time I pushed her and held her hands to stop her.
She fell on the floor started yelling, "SOMEONE PLEASE HELP. SHE IS BEATING ME!!!"
That's when I got to know that she loosened her grip purposefully and her brother was standing behind me with his gang.
"Brother, I just asked her about our English test but she started beating me out of the blue!" cried Yuri. "Stop lying Yuri! I didn't eve-" thats when I felt someone holding my hair. "I know what happened here" her dumb brother said.
I kicked him in the balls. "Aarrgghh" my hair slipped from his hands. "Don't let this girl escape! We need to teach her a lesson!" said one of his gang members .
I used some of the defensive moves that jungguk taught me but they were way too strong. I kept screaming Gguk's name as I knew he must be waiting for me somewhere nearby.

Jungguk pov

I was waiting for y/n. She never used to be late for her training session. I couldn't attend any class today because of an upcoming championship. So I decided to check in the classroom if she was there.
I reached the corridor from where I could hear someone screaming my name. "Ohhhh!! Y/N!!"
I rushed into the classroom where I could see Songyeon and his dumbos fighting with y/n.
In no time I freed y/n from their hold and asked her to run outside. I taught them a good lesson that day.
None of them could escape from my kicks. They were about to run when the principal appeared at the door. "In my office, NOW!!"
Principal heard the whole story. Y/n was also there. She wasn't crying but she was visibly angry.
Principle knew that I was just trying to protect y/n but violence wasn't something she would have borne in her school.
I was detained for 4 days. Those bunch of dumbos couldn't participate in the upcoming championship plus 2 weeks of detention was their punishment.
They glared at me while coming out of the office but I simply ignored them. I held y/n's right hand while my other arm was wrapped around her, helping her to walk.
" Those jerks should be suspended from the school forever!" exclaimed y/n. I had never seen her in so much rage. She would've swallowed me at any moment so I controlled my laughter and said, " It's okay y/n let's go to the school nurse first".

Y/n pov

I kept on convincing Gguk that I was okay on our way to nurse's office but he didn't pay any heed to my words.
Our school nurse, Park Seojun wasn't less than a general physician with an experience of more than 10 years.
He was quite friendly with everyone. He was famous among the school girls for his charms and handsome face. Even I couldn't stop myself from swooning over him.
I was sitting on examination table. My leg was hurting as hell while my left hand had a scratch on it coated with dirt. " Did you fell in the school ground?" he asked while carefully cleaning my wounded hand. Standing beside me, Gguk answered, " No, she got into trouble with some boys but she gave them a good fight". "Oh! Is it?" exclaimed the doctor while patting my head. I couldn't help but smile weakly at him.
"Let's see how brave you are" he said and left us there to grab something from the cupboard.
"Huh?" I said while Jungguk just shrugged. After a minute he came back and I gasped at the thing he was holding. "So, ready?! "
"NO!" I cried. There's nothing in this world that can scare me except shots! I was yelling and tears started falling like anything.

Jungguk pov

I was looking at the doctor when I, heard a loud wail. Y/n's crying!? Oh, was she afraid of shots?
Was she the same girl who fought with those taekwondo boys! I had no idea how to handle her.
Doctor was trying to calm her down while I was no less than a statue near them. "Jungguk I think you need to hold her so that we can get over with it" said the doctor.
I came back to my senses and held her left arm with one of my hands while with the other, I turned her face towards me to distract her but in vain. "I WILL KILL YOU RIGHT AWAY JEON JUNGGUK!" She kept cursing me till the time her shot was done.
Her wails could be heard till principal's office, for sure.

Y/n pov

Gguk had to walk me to my home as I couldn't walk properly by myself. Throughout the way, either I was punching him or yelling at him. He kept laughing.
When we reached home, he greeted my mom. "Hello aunty" said Gguk . My mom was in complete shock when she saw me but Jungguk explained everything to her, assuring that the boys had received enough punishment for it.
My mom always liked Gguk and after that incident, she almost accepted him as her son-in-law.
Oh my mother!
She brought some snacks for us in my room. I was still mad at Jungguk. "You punk! I really hate you! See! How you are laughing at me! I SWEAR I WILL BREAK YOUR TEETH WITH ONE PUNCH!"
He couldn't help but giggle at my red puffy face. Was my anger funny for him!? Huh! Seriously!?
"Hey, look here for a second and then you can continue cursing me" said Gguk while holding his phone trying to take a selfie with me.
"YOU JERK, CAN'T YOU SEE MY CONDITION RIGHT NOW! I'M IN SO MUCH PAIN BECAUSE OF YOU AND YOU WANT TO TAKE A SELFIE!? WAIT, LET ME SHOW YOU MY POWER!" Having said that I grabbed his ear and twisted it with full force.
"Yaaa!!! What are you doing y/n !!!!" Gguk exclaimed. "THAT'S WHAT YOU DESERVE!!"
That's when he clicked the picture.

Flashback over

I couldn't stop gushing over that picture. I had no idea why Gguk wanted to capture that moment. Maybe that was when he realised that we were meant to be together.
And so did I.
I turned the pages. It seemed like all the pictures were taken just a few days ago.
An- OH!
I almost chocked on hot choco when I turned another page.
It was our picture holding hot choco cups in our hands while sitting on the floor against the corner of a wall.
I could feel nostalgic tears blurring my sight.

"Ah Gguk, how can I not love you..."

And the flashback engulfs me.
