𝐄𝐧𝐣𝐨𝐲!

We drive home in silence.

Aly was staring at me but when I turned to her she looked away.

This day was a mess.

I hated it.

Why?

Why did this have to happen?

I gritted my teeth.

We didn't even go to school.

Skipping school just because of some idiots.

Great.

The car slowed down.

"You two, we're at your house."

I nodded.

Aly murmured a thank you.

We got off.

We waved to the car as it drove off.

I wished we didn't have to come home.

Now we have to deal with Amelia asking too many questions.

I didn't even feel like I belonged at home.

I knew I belonged with my friends and Aly.

Aly looked at me.

She wanted to say something.

I knew she did.

But she kept silent.

We walked to the path.

I unlocked the door.

There was no noise in the house.

It was quiet.

Too quiet.

Too still.

Too lifeless.

Where was Amelia?

Why was I getting deja-vu?

Coming home to an empty home.

Familiar.

Aly looked away.

I looked at her.

"She left?" I asked.

She nodded.

"Why?"

I seemed to be asking that too much now-a-days.

"She asked me to go to Europe with her."

I froze.

"When did she ask you?"

She ignored me.

"I asked if you were coming. She said that you weren't. She proceeded to tell me that she'd sell the house and we could move to Spain."

And where would I go if she sold the house?

So she was disowning me and running off with my only other relative.

What a great mother.

"I asked her where you would live. She didn't say anything."

Yup.

Sounds like her.

I smiled.

Aly had always dreamed of living in Spain.
