Chapter No 14

"What?" She was not getting the furious glares Dua and Wania were giving her

"This Madam you will tell us. Where were you for two weeks?" Dua poked her pen at Ujala's arm

"What?" Ujala still was puzzled, "I was at home"

"Really? Check your phone. You didn't bother to reply any of our messages or calls" Dua was doing questioning while Wania who was just glaring her before also started with her interrogation

"Ok leave it. You left the hostel so where were you living for one month?" Ujala gulped and stared at her suspicious friends in dilemma

If she tell the truth then Umer can be angry with her and if she doesn't tell then her friends could suspect her

"Speak now" she came out of her thoughts again at Dua's voice

"Umm .. I …." She felt at a loss of words

"Ujala we are childhood friends. You can share everything with us. Tell us what is bothering you?" Wania said, now patting her hand. She looked around, they were sitting in the backyard of their department with only a few students present. Inhaling sharply, Ujala prepared herself to speak

"I hope what I am going to tell you would be a secret between us" it was now both of them who looked at her puzzled

"You doubt us?" Dua said

"I told you guys that Sibi Aapi didn't get marry" she paused as they both nodded

"Instead of her … I got married that day" fidgeting with her fingers furiously she completed while Dua and Wania stared at her in utter shock with their mouth ajar

"You … what?" Wania was the first one to come out of shock though

"Please .. please I beg of you to keep it a secret. Um …" she stopped in time before his name could slip from her tongue, "My husband won't like it. He said I should just focus on my studies"

"But why? You didn't elope or did something wrong.. Ok at least we can tell our class" Ujala quickly shook her head taking in Dua's attention who was ready to announce it

"Please no … I beg of you"

"Ok so maybe just teachers?" At this her negative nod was more furious than the previous one. Telling the teachers means Umer will get to know it

"Please can't you two keep it to just yourselves. I can't tell it to anyone, then there must be a reason. Please try to understand" Ujala now almost pleaded and Wania too agreed with her

"Ok it is just our secret" with this they shared a group hug and now Wania and Dua was interested in other details

"What's the name of our brother in law then?"

"R-real name"

"Umer Faris Zaidi"

His voice resonated in her head and she spoke, "Faris"

After that they started asking about her in laws and her compatibility with her husband. Ujala realized that to hide a truth how many lies she has to tell

Umer was seeing her tense and upset since they were home. He thought maybe it was because of her fever

"Ujala leave it" she was about to wash the dishes when he stopped her, "go to your room and take rest, I'll do it" he said sternly and like he knew she was going to the room next moment but still she was lost
