Chapter No 18

Umer glanced once at her hand and then his own as she placed the tenth novel in the pile of books in his hands

"Ujala I guess we came here to shop for your course books" he scoffed while she raised her brows

"If you are feeling tired carrying these books then give them to me" she retorted in the same manner and with a deep sigh he chose to keep quiet

It's been a week and Umer was just pestering her, making up for his rude behavior of the past one month. If she has become comfortable around him, it is all because of him giving her this confidence. He remembered how he had eaten just chicken ginger in dinner as a penalty for not eating it that night

Right now also they came to the book store when she asked him to get the course helping books but after getting here, her mouth watered seeing all kinds of her favorite novels. First one she took hesitantly but seeing his encouraging glance she was now picking every favorite one of hers and he was now regretting to be this considerate. Ujala, on the other hand stopped adding more books with a heavy heart

Umer was paying bill at the counter when he got the call from Saim

"Hello Saim" he paused and Ujala frowned as worry etched on his face, "Ok don't worry .. we're coming"

"What happened?" She asked as soon he cut the call

"Ramsha Bhabhi went into labour. We've to go hospital" quickly grabbing the bags they came out

Ujala was feeling awkward in the presence of three men at the situation. Ramsha was in O.T. She was sitting on a bench while Umer, Saim and Jahan were standing at some distance

As soon the light of O.T went off, Saim quickly sprinted towards the nurse coming out

"Sister is she …." Nurse smiled at his concern

"Your wife is absolutely fine and congratulations you are blessed with a baby boy" Upon hearing it Umer and Jahan pounced on him. Ujala too smiled through the tears of happiness which she've no idea when rolled on her cheeks

Umer's eyes locked with her and he realized that she was being left out so excusing Saim and Jahan he came to her

"Hey why are you crying?" Sitting beside her he wiped off her tears gently to which she just shook her head looking down

"Ujala?" He raised her chin and ushered her to speak

"I-I am afraid" She held his hand and gripped it tightly while he stared at her puzzled

"Why?"

She once looked at Jahan and Saim and they both turned away their gazes swiftly. He too followed her gaze and gritted, muttering mute curses to them

"N-nothing. I'll tell you later" she left his hand feeling embarrassed as she found Jahan and Saim walked to them

"Congratulations Saim Bhai" she said while rubbing her hands and irked by it Umer held her hands

"Thank you Bhabhi" he was now telling how Ramsha was asking about her the other day

Now it was Jahan who was left out, his eyes wandered to entwined hands of Umer and Ujala which she was trying to pull away but he was holding it securely. The hospital corridor felt suddenly so small as he find it difficult even to breathe

"Right Jahan …" Saim now turned to him who was clueless to their conversation and the matter in which Saim needed his agreement

"Sorry … what?" He snapped his head to Saim hoping Umer wouldn't have caught him staring at them
