Back In Time

Times Almost up

I was fidgeting at the rehearsal. I was too in my head that I didn't even hear my friends talking to him.

"Dude, are you ok?" Avi asked in his deep voice. I nod as it knocks me out of my trance "yeah...yes...I'm here." They believe the little charade and go back to discussing the tour arrangements.

I sat there feeling out of it, I haven't seen Carlos in a while which is strange because he usually appears every 10 seconds just to inform me on news that I already know.

I start biting my nails, I need fresh air, I just need to get away for a bit "I'm gonna go to the restroom."

When Mitch got outside he took in a breath of fresh air and Carlos appeared "you ok?" Mitch scoffed "do I look like I'm ok?" Carlos licked his lips "I'm sorry." Mitch let out a heartless laugh "for what? For giving me a second chance?"

Carlos looked down "you deserve to be happy Mitch, everyone deserves to be happy." Mitch shook his head "I love him. I-" Mitch cuts himself off as he starts sobbing.

Carlos nodded "I know." Mitch wipes the tears but they just keep coming "no, you don't. I love him, it's because of me that we didn't work out in highschool, if only I knew that we would still be friends years later I would've never broke up with him. I would've stayed. I love him and I can't do anything about it because he's with Alex here and Mark over there."

Mitch was sobbing as he dropped to the ground. Carlos sat down next to him "you can do it. He's you're best friend but he's also the love of your life. He's the reason why you were so happy back then."

Mitch sniffled as more tears fall "I-I don't wanna die...I don't wanna die and have Scott find my body. Scott acts like things are normal but I know they're not. After that fight it was never normal again." Carlos nods again "I understand." All of a sudden the doors opened and Kirstie appeared "Oh my Gosh, Mitch!" She fell down next to Mitch and pulled him into a hug as Mitch let it all out on her chest.

Kirstie rubbed his back comfortingly "I'm here, don't worry. I'm here." After Mitch calmed down a little Kirstie asked "what happened Mitch?"

Mitch wiped his tears and shrugged "I guess I just am mentally drained. Kirstie nodded and said "I understand...Mitch?" Mitch gave a little smile her way "yes?"

She fidgeted with her hands "I'm worried about you." Mitch shook his head "don't be. Come on, we have rehearsal."

Mitch nodded and they went back to the rehearsal space.

When they met up with the rest of PTX Scott was the first to notice Mitch's red nose and puffy eyes "Mitch! Are you ok? Were you crying?" He got up and engulfed Mitch in a big hug as Mitch felt like crying again.

When they pull away from the hug they sat back down on the couch as Mitch says "I'm fine, promise. Ok?" Scott nods and they go back to work.

When Scott and Mitch get home from the rehearsal Mitch sits down on the sofa next to Scott. They both go on their phones but instead of Mitch actually going through his social media he starts thinking...again.

How was he gonna get Scott to like him?

How are things in the future?

Why was this so difficult?

Why was he anxious?

What happens after?

But the one thing that he knew for sure was that time was almost up. He thought he had all the time in the world but he guessed not since he never knows when he's going to wake up in a different year. I mean he just couldn't handle the stress.

He was so close to tears but he didn't want to cry in front of his best friend. He kept it all bottled inside and suddenly he had so many thoughts and emotions in his head that he couldn't think properly.

He started feeling really weird "Scott.." he trailed off as Scott looked up from his phone "yeah?" All of a sudden Mitch started convulsing.

"MITCH!" Scott yelled as he ran over to Mitch's side and tried calling 911. Mitch was taken to the hospital and was still convulsing as they ran him into the room and tried to get the seizure to stop.

While Mitch was in the hospital room, Scott was in the waiting room in tears, Kirstie ran into the hospital and saw Scott "Scotty." She said as they hugged and when they pulled back Scott shook his head "I don't know what happened. One minute he was fine and the next he...he was..."

Kirstie was on the verge of tears too, this was really scary, for everyone.

Scott wiped his tears as a doctor came out and said "you're friend is stable for now, it appears that he had a seizure and so we're running some tests but everything so far looks normal."

Scott and Kirstie nodded "can we see him?" Kirstie asked as the doctor sighed "he's not in his room right now, since he's getting an MRI done but I'll let you know right as he gets done." Scott nods and the doctor walks off.

Kirstie rubs Scott's back comfortingly "he'll be ok Scott." Scott scoffs and sits down "you don't know that." Kirstie sighed, Scott was right...she didn't know that.

The doctor walked back out and said "looks like all the tests came back clean, but we have some concerns...it seems like the seizure was caused from emotional stress.. has he seemed stressed lately or out of it so to speak?"

Scott nodded "yeah, recently he's just been really out of it. He's not been eating a lot he always zones out." Kirstie nodded "I mean, I caught him outside just on the floor in tears." The doctor wrote that down "well he's in his room now if-" he's cut off by an alarm and nurses rushing to Mitch's room.

"He's Coding!" A nurse yelled as the doctor ran to the room as well.
