"Hey so you wanted to talk?"
Layla said with her nerves bundled up in all the wrong places as she took the seat right in front of him.

"Hmm" he inhaled deeply. "Do you want to order for anything?" He asked checking out the menu.

"It's a restaurant in a hospital after all, I don't think they have much to offer." Layla answered giggling.

"You look nice." He complimented whiles stealing glances at her face. He complimented beautifying her with his eyes from head to toe. She acted shy for a while then stared away the moment she realized her cheeks started to blush. She missed him, she missed what they had. Perhaps starting this conversation with the news of being pregnant would have saved both of them the time, yet she still wanted to hear whatever he had to say first.

"I have decided Layla and I can't do this anymore."

"Right." She mumbled the minute that sentence ended like she had been preparing for the worst to happen.

"What I am trying to say is that..I can't stay away from you any longer. We can adopt Layla but if you still want to get married to me then I am up for it."

"Really?" She exclaimed. Instantaneously, the tears under her eyes began to dry up pretty quickly. "Even though I can't give you children?"

"Well.. I realized I love you way too much to lose you over that. I am not saying having kids isn't important, but as I said we can adopt."

"We don't have to do that my love."

"You don't want us to adopt? I am sorry then perhaps it will hard for you. I mean bringing up someone else's child. Not to worry, how about donating something to a few orphanages once a year. It's a whole compromise but none of that matters now. Just you and I."

"It's no longer just us Kwesi." She said smiling.

"Meaning?"

"I am pregnant."

"What?" He jumped out of his seat.. "how?"

"You don't look happy."

"I mean...I.. don't..." he stammered plodding gently into his seat jilting the attention he had gotten from almost everyone in the restaurant. "How is this even possible, you said... did you lie about removing your womb? Was it a test? Oh my God Layla if it was then this is messed up."

"I didn't, relax Kwesi.. I didn't, but the doctor did."

"Forgive me Layla I know I am supposed to be happy but I don't understand any of what's happening."

"To summarize everything Kwesi, the doctor I asked to operate on me back then made me believe he did. I recently found out that he just sedated me long enough to think so. I haven't been feeling so well off late, between being dizzy all the time and looking pale Serwaa convinced me to take a pregnancy test and it came out positive, here." She dropped the test results on the table.
