•••••• As time passed, the confines of my surroundings felt less like a prison and more like the depths of an abandoned cave. My life hung precariously between two settings, teetering on the edge of disarray.
I struggled to force my eyes open, but all I could perceive were strange visions of a man in a suit standing before me. His words were mumbled and disjointed, his presence unsettling. Yet, as he clasped my hand, the chill of my isolation began to thaw.
I remember sneezing, a sudden intrusion of reality, before slipping back into a drowsy haze of unconsciousness.
"Where am I?" I groaned, pressing my hand to my spinning head. The world seemed upside down, a dizzying chaos that felt more like hell than heaven.
"Doctor, is she okay?" A man in a black suit whispered urgently to the older man in white scrubs, who studied me intently as if searching for answers in my bewildered expression.
I struggled against a thriving pain slicing through my chest, my entire body sore and trembling. Through the haze, I could see the two men whispering, their voices muffled. A tear escaped my clenched eyes, trailing down my cheek. More like a cry for help, I didn't know where I was, but I wanted to leave.
Shockingly, someone or something wiped the tears away quickly, and Kofi's face appeared out of nowhere as things started to come into focus.
"Why are you in hell, Kofi?" I coughed, my voice raw with emotion. "Is it because you left me for Bianca? Tell them I forgive you, you need to leave this place, it's terrible. This pain I'm feeling is unbearable, Kofi, you need to go."
My legs trembled, expressing my innermost feelings of agitation, and before I knew it, he had disappeared again.
The next minute, I found myself standing on the banks of a river. It was the most beautiful place I had ever laid eyes on, with crystal-clear water reflecting the sunlight and lush greenery surrounding me.
The stream flowed with a magnificent force, mirroring the turbulence of my fears. It was oddly comforting how at peace I felt, amidst the rushing water. I reveled in its uninterrupted flow, longing for life to feel as pure and effortless.
"What's wrong with her?" A voice, familiar yet distant, shattered the tranquility. It pierced through the soothing sounds of the stream, jolting me from my thoughts.
"Henry?" I called out, my heart racing as I scanned the area from where I had taken shelter. When no response came, fear gripped me, and I instinctively hugged my knees, burying my head in my lap, seeking refuge from the unknown.
The whispers persisted, haunting and relentless, until finally fading into the background. Slowly, I relaxed, succumbing once again to the embrace of sleep.
