Evangeline:

I sat on the sofa in the living room, not really knowing what I should do with myself. Adjusting back to a normal life was proving harder than expected. It had been a month since I had tried to run away and I was completely healed, but most importantly, I was happy. I had no one to run from anymore. I was safe and loved. Life wasn't just about surviving. I threw my head back. What do normal people even do? How was I ever going to fit in here?

As if on cue, Xainier walked into the room with Poppy in tow.

"Hey!" They both said together.

Jesus, those two were attached at the hip. I looked for a string or some indication they were attached, nope.

"What are you up to girls? I know that look, Pops" I sent her a pointed look. She smiled sheepishly.

They both smiled and sat either side of me on the couch. They looked at me and then at my clothes, Poppy even scowled a little.

"Excuse me? Do you mind?" I stood up and backed away from them.

They both chuckled. "We're just teasing you sweetie, but I do think its time to go shopping for some of your own clothes" Xainier grinned and pulled out a credit card.

"Besides, its all being paid for by my brother" she chuckled.

I crossed my arms. "And does he know about that?" I raised an eyebrow.

"He will later, now come on, go get ready!" Poppy pushed me out the room in the direction of the stairs.

I sighed. Shopping. How fun.

I had a quick shower, straightened my hair and grabbed some of Poppy's clothes from the closet. She had been lending them to me while I was recovering. I guess she wanted them back now, hence the shopping.

I threw on some simple black yoga pants and a light grey hoodie, pulled the hood up and let my hair fall out the sides of it, then went back downstairs with some grey converse in my hands.

The two girls had done their makeup and hair into cute styles and were dressed in similar outfits to each other. Poppy was wearing a pair of ripped jeans, ankle boots and a belted black coat which reached her mid thigh while Xainier was wearing a pair of white jeans and a suede version of the coat along with some ankle boots to match.

I pulled my converse on and pulled my sleeves over my hands. I looked like a wreck compared to them both.

Poppy smiled. "Are you okay?"

I nodded. "Just nervous I guess" I shrugged.

We got into Poppy's car. It was a cute coffee coloured Fiat 500. It wasn't a flashy car that I was expecting though. "Well not that I don't like it but, this car ins't very you,Pops?"

She chuckled. "I know but it takes the attention off of us while mixing with humans. I don't want any unwanted attention and a flashy car isn't going to aid that very well"

I nodded, that was actually really smart.

The drive to the mall was long and painstakingly slow. Poppy was a terrible driver. I actually offered to drive instead but she said no because I don't have a licence. Technicalities.

"I may not have a license but at least I don't drive like an old woman" I rolled my eyes.

Xainier was laughing at our sisterly squabbling and I found myself smiling. I'd missed this. After going so long thinking I'd never see my sister again, I promised myself I wouldn't take a single moment with her for granted.
