Ghost Touch - a poem about memory

how will I ever forget
my face in your neck
your fingers on my back
my head on your chest
I just wanna be in your arms again.

warm breath
your heart beats in my ear
reaching over the side of the couch to rub your shoulder
God, please let me remember this when we're older.

you trace patterns on my hip
I play with your fingertips
you touch my face and I want to kiss your lips
Tomorrow night, when you're gone, I'll replay this in my mind.

I grabbed your hand in the kitchen
you held my hands before you left
I just want to hold you again.
Tonight, when you call, I will pretend
that you're right there, like you've always been.
