Easier - a poem about keeping what's worth it

It would be easier to forget
The smell of your hair as you lay on my chest,
the sound of your voice in my ear as you utter nonsense
the curve of your smile when I tell you how loving you makes me feel
your arms around me as you stand up to leave

It would be easier
If we didn't catch each other's eyes so many nights ago
If you'd never said hello
Then I'd never know

What it's like to get to know you
What it's like to hold you

It would be easier to forget
But we are too late for that
I'll always remember

The way you said on the phone that you've been holding back
That you've been waiting for the perfect timing
That I've been on your mind.

I'll always remember.
You will always have a part of me.
