Don't take the cloak

WILL OPENED THE DOOR as the click-clack of Sable's claws sounded down the hall. He bent down to pet her, and her tail swept back and forth in pleasure.

"Hey, girl," he said softly. He rose to his feet and raised his voice, taking off his cloak. "Maddie?"

There was no reply, and he recalled the girl's earlier words. "Must be in bed already," he murmured to himself. He turned to hang up his cloak and frowned.

Her cloak was gone.

Will threw his on the pin and made his way through through the little cabin, not bothering to knock as he pushed the door open. A disfigured lump lay on the bed...

He yanked back the covers, revealing scrunched-up clothes, and her rolled-up tent, a poor attempt to hide the fact that she was gone.

He stared at the clothes for a moment longer before wheeling around, back through the cabin, throwing on his cloak, and striding out the door.
