| bind (n): a problematic situation |

TOKALA WAS FED up with Niklaus Mikaelson, and if he could do it without angering Mercy, he would throw away this entirely unsteady alliance that they formed and find her himself. However, Klaus had told him to wait until he was back from trying to find his brother in France, and so Tokala agreed. But that had been nearly a whole day ago, and the teenager was growing antsy. He knew that every second they wasted trying to find other ways to help Mercy, the Queen of Alphas was being tortured further. He wouldn't put it past the vampires, especially after they had slaughtered Henry only hours after Mercy placed him under her protection.

The entire situation was screwed, all in all.

Jordyn was helplessly trying to keep him on track—keep him calm—and Tokala reminded himself that she was doing her best. It wasn't like Jordyn had come to New Orleans expecting this to happen either, and she cared immensely for Mercy. He could tell by the affection in her eyes, and the way her face fell every time that Tokala or Klaus brought up the frightening possibilities of what was happening to the Mikaelson girl. He knew that Jordyn saw Mercy as a daughter of her own, and he was guilty over his previous actions toward the woman. As a result, he tried to listen to her more often, believing that—like himself and Klaus—she had Mercy's best interests at heart.

Finally, after what felt like eons, Klaus called Jordyn and informed them that he was coming back to New Orleans within the day. Although, he was coming back alone, and Tokala briefly wondered what had happened to the other Mikaelson brother. He had heard stories of Klaus and Elijah Mikaelson over the centuries, and it was surprising to hear that the older brother wasn't rushing back to New Orleans at the thought of his nieces in trouble. Tokala knew that the Hollow was still an issue when it came to Mikaelsons reuniting with one another, so he didn't question the lack of Elijah's presence.

But it only annoyed him further, realizing that Klaus had basically wasted two days of time that could've been better spent looking for Mercy.

Once he got back to New Orleans, the pair got to work immediately, and Tokala was glad that he could channel his frustration and annoyance into intimidation. He loved the idea of questioning each of the factions about Hayley and Mercy, especially when they could throw in a threat or two to make sure that everyone knew the severity of the situation. Klaus was—surprisingly or not, he wasn't sure—a very good wingman, especially when their agendas lined up. They both wanted Mercy and Hayley safe, and neither of them were comfortable with allowing the factions of New Orleans off the hook.

Of course, Tokala had been the one to ask around the wolves, knowing that Klaus would only disrupt the peace that his daughter had made with the Crescent Pack. The wolves didn't know anything, and they promised Tokala that they would search endlessly. The boy didn't doubt them when he saw the sincerity in their eyes, especially after the loyalty that they had shown them when Mercy arrived at New Orleans.
