CHAPTER 16 - KING'S GAME

// EAST HALL //

JUNKO'S POV

Loud taps of my heels echoes across the halls as I made my way inside the Mansion, with IWI Uzi Pro on my hand, two Pup Elite fixed blade on my leg holsters, and a smoke grenade.

As I closed in a corner, I came across two armed men with a rifle and a shotgun.

*Tak!tak!tak!tak!*

I quickly shot them on their right leg, making them kneel in pain. I bolted and jumped towards one of them, and did a flying scissor leg take down, by wrapping my legs around one's neck, twisting my body sideways, bringing their head down and landing on my feet.

The other one tried to aim a gun on me, but I did a hard elbow strike on his head, leaving both of them unconscious.

I ran further in the East Hall and found the door to the security room.

My heart sank as I found the door open with lots of blood splatters on the walls outside, and decapitated bodies of guards, probably around 7 men. I quickly inspected the corpses and thankfully, none of them were from the people I know.

I knew for a fact that this wasn't Maki's doing since the blood splatter on the walls seems to show that a long blade was used, and Maki isn't the type to kill her enemies like this.

They must've fought with someone who is skilled with a sword.

Still... Where could Maki and Kaito be?

I can't help but feel uneasy as I entered the security room cautiously with my gun propped on my hands. I looked around and checked the probable hiding spots inside, and confirmed that the area is clear.

I quickly locked the door and inspected the computer and found a USB plugged in the system unit.

This must be the one causing the problem.

I placed down my gun next to the keyboard and started tampering with the computer with codes to disable the malware and finally ejected the USB.

I turned on my earpiece and contacted Chiaki.

"Chiaki. Are the cameras back?"

[Chiaki: Hang on boss-... Yes. It's back. We're back. Chihiro-san, contact all the members.]

[Chihiro: I'm on it.]

I rewind the cameras back in a few minutes to check what happened in the East hall and saw Maki and Kaito's encounter with the 2 masked individuals.

As I watched further, I grew paler and paler...

*BAM!*

I slammed my hands on the table after seeing Kaito got shot in the cameras.
