Fury and Pain

(Y/n's POV)

"HE ASKED YOU ON A FUCKING DATE!?!" Jax screamed. I flattened my ears against my head and whimpered a bit before giving him a small nod. "NO- NO! You are not going!"

"But-"

"NO BUTS! I just-... I just don't want him hurting you... I care about you, and... I don't want to see you get hurt..." He honestly seemed hurt by the idea of me going with Killua. The only problem was... I really wanted to go.

"Jax-"

"Don't 'Jax' me. This guy doesn't seem trustworthy, especially after how he treated you before..."

"But he's different now!"

"He's still the same idiot in my eyes! You're just blindly in love with the fool-" He paused when he realized what he said. "Are you... in love with him..?" He asked delicately. I didn't want to answer for fear it would hurt him whether I lied or not.

"Jax... I'm sorry... but I'm going... this will be how I make sure he won't hurt me... I promise I'll be careful..." I said quietly, avoiding the question. He looked into my eyes, the fragility of our next words already apparent.

"Y/n..." His voice broke as he spoke my name.

"And the answer is yes, Jax... I do love him... I never stopped." Just as I turned to leave, I heard him call out to me.

"And I'll never stop loving you, Y/n... just... don't forget that when he breaks your heart again." I heard him walk away, and I left to go meet up with Killua.

However, as soon as I stepped out of our house, I broke down crying. I was a complete idiot. I had known almost as soon as he did, but I had left it alone instead of sorting out either of our feelings, and I felt like I had just lost my best friend.

He had been there for me through the pain Killua had put me through, and he had always done his best to make me feel comfortable and happy, even when that was difficult to do. And now... I had ruined it by blindly trusting Killua with my heart again, when I myself had been warming up to the idea of being more than friends with Jax...

and like normal...

I had ruined it.

Just like I ruin everything else...

I stayed that way for a while until I couldn't cry anymore. I got up shakily and wiped my damp cheeks, then walked to where I was going to meet Killua. When I arrived, Killua immediately looked worried. "Y/n..? You look pale... and you're shaking... are you hurt? What happened!?"

"N-nothing, Killua... I'm fine... I just fought with Jax for the first time in-..." At that moment, I realized it was the first time I had actually fought with Jax about something. We had a couple little spats occasionally, but never an actual fight. Something in my mind immediately wanted to blame Killua, but I pushed it away and reminded myself that I was the one who forced him to reconnect. "A while..." I finished, not wanting to worry him too much. Looks like I had messed that up already, too.

"Y/n... do you mind me asking what you fought about..?"

You.

"It's nothing, Killua. Trivial things like what to do for our next album or something. Like I said, don't worry!" I plastered a fake smile on. "Let's just go on our date, okay?" His cheeks went pink and he looked away from me, making a small noise of agreement.

We walked together, first to a sweet shop. Killua got chocolates and a chocolate cake, probably for later, and I got some vanilla ice cream and some lemon flavored hard candies (sorry if you don't like lemon, but I really love anything tart or sour, so I decided to use that) along with a few mints (which I also love) for the road.

Things went well, and we actually talked about a few more important things, like what happened when I left. He took me to a park where we played around for a while, and I showed off some of the new forms I could take. He was particularly interested when I turned myself into a few things that definitely shouldn't actually exist, like a phoenix or a unicorn, which I did just to prove a point to him that I was the prettiest unicorn that ever existed.

He didn't disagree.

We also went to a restaurant as the day came closer to an end, getting pretty good food, and after eating, we walked some more, only stopping where we would part ways. "H-hey, Killua..?"

"Yes, Y/n?"

"I don't think... I'm ready to see Jax yet... can I stay with you tonight..?" As I spoke, I noticed the realization in his eyes that I had lied about fighting with Jax earlier. He knew it definitely wasn't trivial. But he didn't bring it up.

"U-um... sure... but we don't really have an empty room for you..." He said quietly. A few different thoughts ran through my mind. The least awkward or dirty solution was me sharing a room with Alluka, but before I could bring it up, I felt something slam into me and I fell to the ground.

"Y/N-" I heard Killua shout as I hit the ground. He ran over to me, freaking out. I turned my head to see what had run into me, and I saw a gigantic dog on it's back, panting. Holy shit- WHAT IS THAT!?!

My internal freak out was put on pause when I heard a voice call out. "I'm so, so sorry! I accidentally dropped his leash when he caught a sniff of something apparently really interesting- I am so sorry!"

I turned to see who had spoken, and my eyes met with bright yellow eyes that could be exact copies of my own. Everything went silent as we stared at each other. The eyes belonged to a girl with long, blonde hair, who was probably an inch or two taller than me. She was pretty.

The silence was broken by Killua, who lifted me up and started scanning over me for any wounds.

"Get your dog in order... you could have gotten my girlfriend hurt, idiot." He basically spat. I blushed at the word. G-girlfriend..? Is that what... ARE we dating..?

"I-I'm sorry..." The girl apologized again. "U-um... may I ask your names..?"

"Y/n Kai..." I said instinctively. "This is my-... b-boyfriend, Killua. You..?"

"Lucky Stellara... nice to meet you, Y/n."
