Can you feel the spirits?
Their gentle walk with care.
Can you hear their memories?
The stories that they share.
The wars and battles they fought with heart.
The sadness and loss that set them apart.
Can you see their families?
They waited every day,
Watching and reading what they had to say.
Can you smell the poppies?
The ones we wear in honour of their fight.
Can you remember the spirits?
Those who fought for us, each and every night.
