A Bond That Burns

I don't need to bear your burden.
It's a choice I get to make.
But this aid has made you harden
I don't know how much I can take

The arguments happen way to much,
All of them starting from hate.
I feel myself resenting you
And I think it's getting late.

We need to draw the line somewhere before I finally break.
You've always acted like you didn't care so maybe this is fate.

Harsh words back and forth,
Too much anger for what it's worth.
Guilt and sadness every day,
This is wrong in every way.

I'm letting you go finally,
It's what's good for you and what's good for me.
I'm not sorry I'm breaking this thread,
I shouldn't think of you with dread.

Reflect, rewind, restart again.
Deep breathing, counting to ten.
It's eating me, it's crushing me,
This bond is burning at third degree.

I'm not saying you don't hurt too
But this is something we need to do.
It's bad, it's toxic, emotions are high,
Do you really need to ask why?

This is what I'm really worth.
Peace and joy every day,
It always should've been this way.

I've moved on finally,
Now I can live happily.
My good life is up ahead,
This is the path I'll always tread.

I've dropped this burden.
I've closed this door.
There was no pardon,
For the pain in my core.
