OVERVIEW:
Reece Parker was that boy in his friends' group who was the adhesive of the group and knew perfectly how to deal with all their chaotic scenarios, especially breakups. He came up with the best options to take his friends' minds off whatever was troubling them, so it was quite natural for his friends to seek him out after any mess they got into.
He had also had experience dealing with his best friend Steph's countless falling out with her boyfriend Tim so he was honestly not surprised when she turned up at his house at 3 am, telling him that once she and Tim would never get back together.
Reece listened to her side of the story and managed to take her mind off it by calling their friend Malia over and having a massive pillow fight after which the two motivated Steph to not let herself feel awful about it.
It was all well until a few days later Reece found Tim in a similar situation and though he was dubious whether he should help him out or not, he gave in to his empathetic side and dragged the depressed boy to his place, in hopes of making him feel better by the time he left.
That night Reece sang his original songs for the first time to an audience and Tim found out that he wasn't the only one suffering the pressure of burdening expectations and heartbreak.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:
The reason for choosing Falsetto as the title is that it represents not only singing (which is a major aspect of the plot) but also refers to a deeper theme. Falsetto is a musical term for a male voice that's artificially high. It means "artificial voice" and when men sing way up high above their speaking voices, it can sound almost fake.
[And as you might have noticed by now, the title is a hint to the main OC Reece's personality; almost fake].
I didn't want it to be a love story but even at the last minute, I couldn't decide...
Though one thing's for sure, it does focus on heartbreak and putting oneself back together after it, features a great platonic relationship among friends and if you've noticed, it's connected to Crescent Rose | S. Brown. The original characters and their dynamic are kept the same in both stories. The only difference is that here the main focus is shifted to Tim instead of Steph.
This story deals more with character development rather than a fixed plot so it will be a more character-oriented fanfic. I have entered it into the Open Novella Contest 2021 so let's see how it works out.
